Shaq or Brad Miller on your team?!?! Gee let me think. International players are better than they were in the 80's and 90's and that is a good thing. It only makes the competition that much better They are not "hurt". they dont want to put the extra work to represent their country which in my opinion is pathetic. Not joining the team because of weddings/family commitments a la T-Mac or Shaq is inexcusable. What happened to the days of the dream team when players WANTED to represent the country?

Re: Why I don't watch NBA games???
Oh I am sorry did Kobe not have surgery on his knee last year?? And Shaq had to have surgery on his toe (which if you weigh 350 is a big deal). The only person to pull up with a lame excuse was TMAC.
These guys are getting a bad rap by peoples lack of knowledge

The one exception is Phoenix. Those guys actually play as a team (but still don't play defense). Phoenix. Suns. Absolutely have been awesome to watch ever since Nash has been there...I agree the regular season overall isn't that fun to watch in the NBA, the playoffs are still great though, especially in the western conference, I love watching the matchups with the Houston Rockets/Phoenix Suns/Dallas Mavericks/SA Spurs/ LA Lakers/Denver Nuggets...In the east I don't care so much about the teams, but god it is amazing to watch King James in Cleveland...
They way that Phoenix plays they aren't going to be able to play shut down defense, you can't be high pressure/high speed offense and be able to get back and play lockdown defense especially when you have a little bit smaller lineup than mosts. I mean the Suns score 100+ all the time sometimes pushing 130...they are not gonna be able to stop teams in the 70s and 80s all the time out, bcuz if they could they would be hands down the best team in the history of basketball at any level.

What are you talking about? How does a team that doesn't even have the best record in the NBA this year become one of the best teams in bball history? They have not even won a championship. And teams in the 70's and 80's scored a hell of a lot more than the suns do this year

Bcuz if they were able to keep their opponents at around 70 or 80 point and score 100+ points like they do constantly, than they would be the best team in the history of the sport if they are winning every game by 40 points or so...read my post over now and it should make more sense.

Re: Why I don't watch NBA games???
I think the comparison with MLB is very telling. First, look at a chart of their respective ratings (NBA Finals and World Series) since 1976. NBA seems fairly stationary (in a time series sense), while MLB seems to have a definite downward trend (Note ... I interpolated for the year there was no World Series).
This is confirmed using simple linear regression with rating as the dependent variable and a time trend as the independent. As the results below show, the NBA Finals do not have a significant time trend. Compare this with the World Series, which has a highly significant negative time trend. So what does this mean? One possible conclusion is that the NBA's ratings aren't doing all that bad after all, especially considering the explosion in the number of channels available. MLB, on the other hand, may want to watch out! -

Sorry should have read your post over better. Good point. With the style of play for some teams such as the Suns and Wizards, they obviously are not going to have the same type of success on D as the Spurs, Pistons would
