What a job this guy is doing. He looked a lot like Vroman last night. Even did the fake pump and then under move. I think he could be a great player next year.

GMAC said he'd still like to get another 25 lbs on him in the off season and he could be playing after next season somewhere.
Some people wear Superman pajamas. Superman wears Chuck Norris pajamas.
he he could get another 25 pounds on him he's be 6-11 250 which is big enough to at least get a look by a NBA team. If nothing else make some money playing overseas. Greg knows how to develop post players and glad Jiri finally bought into his program and realizes this.
Jiri and the other interior guys need to quit playing prevent defense though. Between that and essentially taking a knee with the ball on offense the final 10-12 minutes, I thought McCarney was coaching the basketball team. Throw in the poor "special teams" play of Taylor who looked like he was trying to lose the game, the whole former football coaching staff was on the sidelines at Hilton.
This is a nice win for ISU, not a good win as it was ugly and they REALLY tried to lose. As I have stated before, I am not sold on McDermott as the head coach.
I thought we were losing the lead more because we got away from the patient offense we usually play and were forcing things a little too much causing turnovers.
Defensively I think we get some bad calls at times playing straight up defense. We just don't have the strength that some of our opponets do in the post and playing straight up is better than being over agressive and getting in foul trouble. If we had any depth in the post we could probably play a little more agressive post defense but when Wesley and Jiri get in foul trouble there is a huge drop off in post play when we have to rely on Gray and Marsden.

uhhh...did we watch the same game? We had a dry spell in the second half. Everyone knew it was coming. But we responded to it down the stretch. We made our free throws. We blocked shots. We did enough to win. And what did Mike Taylor do wrong? He had a great game. The interior defense was weak late in the second half since Jiri didn't have fouls to give. If he played D in the second like it sounds like you expected, then he would have been riding the pine for the last 5 minutes and we most likely LOSE. You aren't sold on McD's coaching, yet your coaching strategy would have lost us the game.

Jiri was in foul trouble so there wasn't much he can do... His teammates however need to do a much better job of defensive rotation... You saw this once with Taylor getting in Clarks face after a Longar dunk... There was all the time in the world to make the rotation and nobody moved...
As many have noted, foul trouble had a lot to do with letting OU back in the game. While I'm disappointed we did that, I'm also very encouraged that our team didn't fold up shop when things went sour.
They continued to fight and held off OU in the end. I'll take that any day of the week.
