BIG 12 Tourney 2008 Kansas City

With the excitement of the new basketball program, and the player additions for next year, I am already looking forward to next years Big 12 Tourney. Not just because I think we could make some noise, but because it is in Kansas City. I don't know about some of you, but when I was in school it was a regular trip for me and my friends, Kelly's, the games, packing 12 guys in a hotel room, bad dance clubs, and all that, I cannot wait for it to happen again, I really hope Kansas City can keep the tourney or at least it rotates every other year. Dallsa is a bummer of a tourney spot, Oklahoma City should be pretty goo though, but you sure cannot beat Kanasa City. Who is already making plans for Big 12's 2008.

Re: BIG 12 Tourney 2008 Kansas City

i forgot that its back in KC!! thats awesome... Hilton south here i come

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

I sure hope it will work out for the wife and I to hit the Big 12 tournament in KC. We've yet to attend one. We've been to K.C. a number of times though and enjoy the city.

Plus, I'd like to visit KC again later in '08 when our football team is at Arrowhead beating up on someone from the South. :)

Definitely gonna make it a priority to watch some cyclone victories in KC next year!

2008 is going to be quite the road tripping to see Iowa State!

1. Basketball in KC for Big 12 Tournament
2. Basketball for NCAA Tournament
3. Football at UNLV
4. Football at Iowa
5. Football in KC for Big 12 Championship (or is it Dallas in '08?)
6. Football in warm weather city for major bowl game

what do you mean Dallas is a bummer spot...you just must not know where to go...way better than both of those cities combined. Not to mention the AAC is a great venue for basketball

The Sprint center will be brand new too! LINK
From the plans and artist rendering it's going to be awesome...1 million times better than that dump Kemper. They have a live construction webcam

Dallas as a city is fine, but as a host to the Big 12's it was pathetic, the city does not care, the local businesses did not care, if you were not a Texas school they di not even sell you merchadise, so on, soon, and so, on. The bigger the city the worst host it will be. They could have given to craps about the big 12's being in dallas. I will agree the arena was great, but the even screwed that up when I was there, the evening session started one night at 6pm, and they did not even let the fans in till 6pm. They started the game with almost no one in the arena because for some reason they would not let the fans in. When you attend a tourney in Kansas City, you know that is waht the town has going on that week, you attend it in Dallas, and it is just another thing going on in Dallas.

Re: BIG 12 Tourney 2008 Kansas City

ISU fans, and I think most old Big 8 schools, will forever hold a grudge against any Texas venue for the conference tournament. Especially ISU. KC was special, it was relatively close and ISU fans were readily embraced by the city of KC. It was tradition

People weren't happy (me included) about that tradition being broken.

I don't think that not being happy about the tournament being moved is a reflection upon Dallas, or Ok City or whereever else.

I was there when they crucified my Lord
I held the scabbard when the soldier drew his sword
I threw the dice when they pierced his side
But I've seen love conquer the great divide

KC can't wait until it gets back to KC and in the new Sprint Center. People down here love it when ISU fans come here they get here on Thrusday and don't leave until Sunday even if we lose. We have had a few of the game watches at Kelly's this winter they love it when we come in.
