I just like to see the Huskers excuses as to why they didn't land any of the recruits that we were both after.

I really don't care how many stars these guys have. What really matters is heart.

Everyone knows from Mr. MIMAL : M(innesota) I(owa) M(issouri) A(rkansas) L(ouisiana) that Iowa is the face of the nation, which would leave Ames as the eyes of the nation and Iowa City as the cold sore of it. I guess that would make Nebraska as some sort of mullet.

I don't agree with the negative posts on the recruiting..If you simply go by the number of "stars" a player has, a coach could recruit all running backs with four stars and have a top class. Yet the on field would be poor because of a lack of position players. In reality, that is with ISU has done the past few years. Few big guys and lots of smaller backs and dbs to fill out the list. Chizik recruited specific needs not caring about ratings. I'm more excited about this class than I've been for a long time. You cant coach a guy to be 6-6 or 300 lbs plus, but we have guys like that coming.

The "big brother" complex shows through in how our supposed gems of the class were described- Wallace Franklin and Phillip Bates- would have went to Nebraska if "we" really wanted them too. Just my thoughts. Anyone else?

Huskers super classes so far have not produced as much as expected on the field. Lots of injuries, some defections, some academic problems, inadequate coaching, poor playcalling. Considering the many starred takent, the Red machine talent has under performed to date. Maybe next year will be better. Now they lose 2-3 coaches, they fired the last link to Traditional Nebraska football in the Boyd weighlifter coach today so they can replace him with a Bill callahan acquitance from Oakland raiders who needed a job after their new coach showed up. Norvell left. Tight end coach almost left. Cosgrove almost left to Vikings. Underperforming so far. Even lost their bowl game. I admit we totally underperformed also last year. That is why we made some changes. IIs Callahan the answer? The answer is still up for debate. Gene wo;; a;sp have to prove himself in the next three years.

Look, it really doesn't matter what the stars are of this class are. We have heard for years that the 2 star players are part of the best recruiting classes ever.
I really don't care about this year. because Gene addressed the needs of the team. If these guys are better up front than last year then he did a good job. The test of Gene and the staffs recruiting is what they do in the future. If they are still getting the 11th ranked class in the conference, then we can complain. Until then, well they get an A for this year because they did what they could with what was available.
The thing is that we should be happy if Nebraska and Iowa are ripping us. They have the most to lose if we get good.

Remeber when Chizik comes calling. Your right on...NU is the graveyard for Nebraska High School football players. Even Gayle Sayers (Omaha Central) had the good sense to play football at Kansas University.
If I were a high school player in the Omaha area I would sure consider Iowa State. I might actually see the playing field before I got gray hair!!!
