And DirecTV's Hotpass is great! I love listening to the drivers on the radio. I know I was getting really tired of the Chevy President's Day Sale commercial. That's been on every channel all weekend -

I hope it isn't going to be like that every race... This was one of the main complaints about NBC (Nothing But Commercials) before they were dropped. Fox is just as bad, IMO. Its gotten worse and worse over the past few years. At some point, the frequency of the commercial breaks are going to bring about diminishing returns. People like ME will start DVRing the races and start watching them about an hour after they start so that I can skip through all the commercials. Not even sure if an hour will be enough lead time with all the breaks they took today.

I don't have DirectTV, but do you mind saying how much extra the Hot Pass is?

Re: Daytona 500
Ha, NASCAR is nothing but about commercials. The racing really is secondary to sponsorship and the resulting over abundance of commercials. Who do you think is footing the bill for this crap anyway.

Re: Daytona 500
Not a Nascar fan or hater, just observe every now and then. I certainly do not consider Nascar a sport or the drivers athletes. However, they certainly do have some mad skills. They get paid millions of dollars a year to do what they do, and if it was that easy you and I would be giving it a shot, as well as all the other drivers that race in other forms of racing. Nascar may be boring to some but obviously not as boring as other forms of racing as they are never on tv. The crowds that attend Nascar races are second to none.

Now if I can just talk him into that and stepping up to HD -

My dad does that now and it seems to make things go by way quicker...it's a good idea...

Re: Daytona 500
with the Hotpass, I sat and watched the race for 1 1/2 hours straight. It shows the commercial yet shows the driver you're watching as well. I saw 2 cautions and a restart that Fox missed due to commercials.

Re: Daytona 500

Re: Daytona 500

Still sucks. -
Re: Daytona 500
This just in. YES, Nascar still sucks. HA. LOL -
Re: Daytona 500
Not a NASCAR fan here at all, yet I tuned in for most of the race today. It's Daytona. I don't like baseball yet I watch a few playoff games. I always enjoy watching the bigger events of the sports I'm not fans of.
And it was an exciting race today. Especially those final 50 or so laps. Amazing job by Stewart to go from the back of the field to the lead - then only to get loose, bumped and wreck.
Crazy finish too...a car crosses the finish line sliding, on its top, while on fire. Car flips back over and driver gets out unharmed.
To me, that's exciting television.
If ya don't care for the sport, like myself - ignore the threads. It's that simple. "Vomiting" all over it is just...well...childish.
