Watching the dunks from the NBA dunk contest got me wondering what Cyclone (past or present) is/was the best dunker.
Rahshon,of course, comes to mind, as does Cato and his rim-rockers. Fizer's dunk over Mihm qualifies him, even if he wasn't a showy dunker.
Who am I leaving out? Maybe McDermott, if the rumors are true. | | |

fizer's slam has to win. if it was a total play ending in a dunk, blalock's (may have been curtis) behind the back pass that clark finished was amazing. sportscenter #1 play of the night that night.

He may not have pulled off any crazy dunks in a game, but I've seen Will Blalock throw down some insane dunks.

This may show my age, but Eli Parker (part of Grayer, Thompkins, Rhodes recruiting class) threw down some incredible dunks in the tip-off classic dunk contests. While dunking has gone to another level in the last 20 years, he was ahead of his time.

Jeff Grayer over Danny Manning has to be one of the best dunks I have ever seen.

The sticker dunk last night was crazy. He should have gotten a much better score on that one.

I actually enjoyed watching the 3 point contest more last night. I don't remember the guys name who won, but he had lobbied just to get a chance to compete and he scored 24 points in the final round. Making all 5 money balls. He was on fire!

That was Jason Kapono. My fondest memory of him is when our beloved Clones gave his UCLA team a beatdown in the Big Dance.

stevie johnson was a heck of a dunker. i remember when ISU used to do a dunk contst and three point contest sduring the cyclone shoot out he jumped over a guy sitting in a chair and leaped from just inside the free throw line, that was pretty sweet. I knda wish we did do that kind of thing again during the shoot outs before for the season, when tim floyd was here he really made those fun and it got people excited for the season to start.

Doug Collins was a great dunker, not a tall guy but could really get up.

I know he didnt really dunk too much in games, but anybody who came to games early enough got to see Blalock put on a show. I have never seen anyone who can dunk like he can, and he is only 6' tall.

Fizer's slam was monumental.....people were up in the air on who was better...Fizer or Mihm....Fizer answered that pretty quickly....it was also representative of how that season went. Knock down drag 'em out! Man I love watching that video still

Don't forget about Richard Evans from like 2000-2002. Guy was a sweet pre-game dunker. Everybody thought he was going to be the next Stevie Johnson (undersized PF that overachieved), but he never ended up doing a whole lot in the games. I will say he probably still holds the ISU record for most windmill-following-stare-downs towards the student section during warmups. We used to love him down there in pre-game. |

For those of you who can remember, Donnell Bivins (sp) had a great fast break dunk at Drake his senior year. And Terrence Allen had at least 1 great alley-oop dunk off an inbounds play from under the basket.

Who am I leaving out? Maybe McDermott, if the rumors are true. Norman Brown was an outstanding dunker won several contests as a prep at national camps and won the contest at the preseason Cyclone Shoot Out one year I believe. NB just was not good enough to play very many minutes. I still think Rashon Clark has had the best in game dunks. I also remember Marc Baugh putting one down against Missouri or Kansas that was special for a one time dunk. Daryl Spinks had more and better rim-rocker dunks than Cato. I think Wesley Johnson will be in this conversation in a couple years.
