Berryman was an astounding player, hands down.. its too bad that he couldnt keep his head on straight because the guy loved ISU

You guys are crazy if you think Gene would have handled the situation any differently than Mac did. Coaches all across the country (strict or not) give 2nd, 3rd chances to the best players on the team. Berryman was the best on team. I would even venture to say that Chizik is so dedicated to winning that he would have made sure JB stayed out of trouble.

Berryman was a great athlete. He wasn't that great a defensive player. I don't think I've seen someone blow containment so often, or bite hard on fakes as badly as he. It made me question his coachability or the quality of his coaching.

He would often try to substitute talent and physical ability for skill. Having said that, I'm not a Berryman "hater". Just want to make sure we all realize he had his faults "on the field."

What I want for Christmas next year? Two defensive ends who know how to contain, fill space and commit, when appropriate, with even moderate talent, strength and quickness. Not super-athletes, just good players.

Gene Chizik would NOT have had to worry about J Berryman's antics. GC would NOT have recruited Berryman in the first place.
