Re: What classifies something as a "sport"?
If these nascar drivers are such stud athletes, why aren't they competing in a real sport? BECAUSE THEY CAN'T!

Nascar and horseracing both require human physical skill and higher spatial capacity. Granted, the horse and the car are the main components. But its not like Greyhound racing.

Re: What classifies something as a "sport"?
Exaclty, brianhos, fat people could make great nascar drivers. A guy with only one arm and no legs could be a great nascar driver. You could teach a monkey to drive in nascar. All it takes is money to be a stud nascar athlete. It's wierd, no athletic skill required and half of american thinks you're an athlete. It's laughable.

If only I can turn one way, then I would be a great NASCAR driver. (I expect a lot of comments about the 1 race a year that requires turning both ways that Jeff Gordon wins every time)
Why don't we compare NASCAR to F1. F1 is much more exciting and competitive. I'd also include Rally Car Racing. Now those two are much better.

Re: What classifies something as a "sport"?
im going to say 1 more thing and be done with it..
just because you dont like bascar, or soccer, or any other type of SPORT, does not mean it is not a sport..
Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative. ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other." -
Re: What classifies something as a "sport"?
Soccer is a sport...it is almost as boring as nascar, but it is at least a sport.

Re: What classifies something as a "sport"?
I don't race in the NASCAR ranks but I can tell you wheeling my racecar around the track takes more out of me than playing sports such as bowling, golf, even baseball. Try driving the car at full speed in a crcle on a rough track in 90+ degree weather then come back and tell me you don't have to be an athlete to drive a racecar.
As for fat old people racing, hmmmm look at bowling, golf, and baseball.
