Iowa State football coach Gene Chizik will earn $100,000 each time the Cyclones appear in the Big 12 Conference championship game, according to the newest details in the contract he signed Monday.
Chizik will receive an additional $100,000 if Iowa State wins the championship game or advances to a BCS bowl game.
Those are among many bonuses included in the six-year, $6.75 million contract Chizik agreed to after replacing Dan McCarney on Nov. 27, 2007.
The contract was made available Tuesday afternoon to The Des Moines Register and other media under an Iowa open-records law request.
Chizik, formerly co-defensive coordinator at Texas, earns $250,000 in base salary and an additional $750,000 yearly from outside sources.
The contract runs through Nov. 30, 2012.

I wouldnt mind if he gets a raise and extension this year and we have to pay him a lil more.

Chizik will make more than those hard working DOT Engineers who only work 40 hours a week and leave at 3:00 to coach cross country and basketball and take every other Friday off.

What i meant to say is i hope that Chiz wins soooo much in his first sevral years that we have to back up a truck of money to his house.

He has not coached a game yet, and you are looking for extensions...that is a mighty big glass of koolaid you are pounding down. Give it some time, enjoy the ride, keep your expectations sane and it will be fine. Think like you do and you are setting yourself up for some major dissapointment.

Here is what I think his pay structure should be.
Base $500,000
Bowl Game +$200,000
North Championship +200,000
Big 12 title (and BCS bid) +1,000,000
BCS win +500,000
National Championship +5,000,000 (I think this is pretty safe:)
