My guess is Cory Johnson. He hasn't got a lot of PT this year, and were only getting more guys at his position next year. He seems to have some good game, but its gonna be hard for him to fit in the next few years. He has to be the logical choice.

We seriously need to start graduating some players, so I hope nobody is leaving.
We have only 2 of the 10 high school players that we recruited in the past 3 years who are still on campus - Clark and Marsden.
I don't know all the details about the NCAA Satisfactory Progress rule that will be coming, but I think we are on pace to lose some scholarships when it starts.

That would hurt if it was Jiri. I really thinking people are setting themselves up for a letdown (a la Shawn Taggert) if they expect Brackins to come in a be a dominate force right away...especially at the 5 position, because he is only 6'9".

If we could get a non-impact player to free up a scholarship, I like the idea of getting Cem Dinq out of Marshalltown. I would be great to have a truly BIG body to match up with some of our opponents' big men.
I agree that Cory Johnson is going to have some problems finding a niche on our team. He's not quick enough to play a lot of time at the three, and he gives up to much height to play the 4 or 5. I think he's a great player, but his body size would fit in better in a CUSA or Missouri Valley conference.

Jeff Adrien at UConn is 6' 6" and one of the best players in the Big East. Greg Brunner was 6' 7" and couldn't jump, and had a pretty good career at Iowa. Coleman at UNI is 6' 6". David Gruber was 6' 6" at UNI before Coleman and lead the conference in rebounding and averaged 13 pts./game. Cory Johnson has a lot of basketball skills. Give him another year of experience, GMac's coaching, and weight training and his height will not be a problem.

I'll accept the Adrien and Brunner arguments; however, you're using UNI, a Missouri Valley school, to debunk the argument that he is better fitted for the Valley.
I'm not saying that he won't end up being a good player. I'm saying that our current needs aren't addressed as well by him as they would be by someone else.

Cory Johnson is nowhere near as athletic as Adrien either. If your 6'6 an athletic it makes up for being undersized

There are always some players out there playing undersized for their position. Look at Kenny Pratt. He played the post, and I don't think he was 6'4". I agree that Coleman could play in most leagues, but, athletically, he's an apples and oranges comparison to CJ.
I think that Brunner is an excellent example of what Johnson could be, if he does everything right. I just wonder if he'll have the patience to sit on the bench as long as it might take to bloom into that kind of player. Minutes for an undersized big man could be hard to find in the next couple of years at ISU.
Brunner had the advantage of Alford's anemic recruiting of big men. He didn't have a lot of competition for playing time, and Alford's offense really catered to his style of play.
If CJ plays, I'll cheer as hard for him as anyone. He's given us some quality minutes this year, and, even if he doesn't play too much, I know that he'll be great at pushing the guys ahead of him.

For every Brunner, Pratt, and Coleman there are probably 10 undersized players that don't have 10% of the success.
No one is saying Corey can't become a good player but are focusing on the odds that he will.

If Jiri is playing Brackins will play the 4 when Jiri is on the floor with him and Thompson will also play some 5. GMac as already said in a call-in show one night that Brackins main position will be the 4 and maybe even go big with Jiri, Thompson, and Brackins at the 3 if we wanted to as he's shown he can step out and hit the 3 ball too. It gets me excited that we possibly could have a lot of flexibility next season and put a lineup on the floor at times where the shortest guy is Diante at 6-5.

I hate this stuff. I hope nobody leaves. They all have potential and I think Mac wants these guys here for a reason.

Can someone just say who this is about so we don't go down the roster saying "I think this person will leave...or maybe this person."
I've heard the Jiri rumor but IMO if he stays he has the potential to be first or second team all-Big 12 next year. But so did Will and Curt and that didn't work out so well...

Paul Clark stated on the Marty and Miller show last Friday that the rumored player was Jiri Hubalek. He was looking to go play European ball. That is the only player that is rumored. We can all stop speculating that it is Cory Johnson or Dodie Dunson or anyone else.
To make sure I covered my bases, I verified that the Marty and Miller show is a free service, before I posted this message.

BTW, I'm kidding.
