I'm truly impressed at everyone on here. You actually looked at other schools and their education programs before choosing Iowa State. I feel like an idiot because I only applied one place, and that's Iowa State.

1. Double-E Baby!!!!
2. My brother was at U of I Law School and my sister was at UNI. That left ISU.
3. Didn't figure mom and dad would go for U of Hawaii.

When I came home from the hospital my dad (an ISU Ag E grad) baptized me in the kitchen sink with an Iowa State coffee cup. My whole family went here, I live an die with Cyclone football and basketball, and I felt that the business college offers great placement opportunities.
UNI was too close to home as it was five minutes away, and I simply couldn't stand EIU and the people from high school going there. Can't say I hate Iowa City bars though ;)

I didn't apply anywhere else CTA. Actually, if I didn't get into ISU, I was going to stay at my Landscaping job until retirement. And I have to laugh at the guy to girl ratio for all you engineers. In my Secondary Ed program, I'm going to graduate with 14, and I"m the only guy . In one of my classes though, there is another guy, but there's also 26 total enrolled.

Went to ISU for the Engineering. Applied to Purdue, ISU, and Iowa. I was accepted to all. But in-state tuition is too good to pass up and Iowa is no place for an engineering major. Also, the campus at ISU was amazing to me at that age. My decision had nothing to do with sports at all.
I started in Aero E. Future course work looked boring and the job market in Aero was severely cyclical. I switched to Mech. E and graduated ME in 97. I'm really glad I did. ME is a VERY flexible engineering degree.
Funny side story for you Civ. Es. I told my dad I was thinking about switching from Aero to Civil. His response was "So, you want to stand in a swamp holding a survey pole all day?" LOL. He was sort of joking but I'm glad he "directed" me to ME.

Iowa State was an easy choice and I am still very happy I went there. My degree from there has served me very well.

Grew up in Ames, it was either ISU or Missouri-Rolla. My first major was Chemistry, but after organic, I decided that was not for me. I finished out my college career in Comp Sci. Good choice since I got done with school 2 years before the internet bubble started it's upswing. Boy that was fun!

And by "fine selection"...I mean you could choose from 5 girls with one that was "reasonable" looking. No major was worse for fine looking women than comp sci. There was 1 really fugly chick, she was just nasty, and all the dorks flocked around her, saved her seats in class, it was frickin hilarious.

I was a Hawk fan before I knew better. A very influencial ISU basketball donor was a family friend, so I got brainwashed whenever he came over to play cards with my parents. He paid my way to Cylone basketball camp when I was in elementary school, the year after my parents paid for me to go to the Iowa basketball camp. My experiences at each basketball camp along with my experiences attending each school's sporting events convinced me that ISU had better people associated with it. In the end, the facts that I was pretty good at math, ISU was close to home, tuition was more affordable than some other options and I liked the sound of the ISU statistics program made the choice obvious.
