Idol. His number should have already been retired.

I was deeply saddened to hear the news of Barry's passing away. I was fortunate enough to see him play at Hilton for his Junior and Senior seasons.

I will always remember him as the key Johnny Orr recruit to help build Hilton Magic.

Thanks Barry for everything you did for this program...

Re: Sad news....Barry Stevens dies

Rest In Peace Barry Stevens. You will be missed. Thank you for being a great ambassador of Iowa State University and for being one of the founders fathers of Cyclone Basketball.

Very few Cyclone athletes have left me with as many memories as Barry Stevens. There still isn't anyone who could shoot from deep in the corner like Barry could. He was the epitome of "Hilton Magic".

Deepest sympathies to the Steven's family.

Re: Sad news....Barry Stevens dies

Very sad. And even though it was before my time, I still have great respect for the tradition that he (along with the other "Founding Fathers" of Hilton Magic, as another poster put it) started that we are still enjoying today.

And just think what he would have done with the 3-point line!

Re: Sad news....Barry Stevens dies

Had season tickets during the 85 season, have many fond memories of that season, ISU's first NCAA appearance in many years. Barry was there to help start Hilton magic, and it was a magical time.

Rest in peace, Barry.

I second that emotion! One of my all-time favorite Clones. A class act and good guy.
