I do not think we will be changing our logo (what currently appears on the helmets) but that does not mean we may not change the uniforms.

Personally, I would like to see a larger "IOWA STATE" above our numbers on the front of the jerseys and special jerseys for the Iowa game that say "BEAT IOWA".

The unfortunate fact is that we change uniforms so frequently because we do not have enough "football tradition" to dictate otherwise. I would like to see the Chizik era stop to revolving door at the uniform shop.

By the way, I do think that the selection of uniforms can have an impact on the emotions / perceptions of the fans and the players...which ultimately impacts the success on the field.

When Fry came to Iowa he specifically chose to copy the Pittsburgh Steeler uniforms because of the winning tradition they had in the late 70s (about the time he took over). He wanted the fans, his players, and the opponents to think it was the Pittsburgh Steelers on the field. I'm certainly no Fry or Iowa fan, but the guy did have some smarts when it came to psychology. He also painted the opponents locker room pink as you may recall.

Part of the uniform changes has to do with the players in the locker room too. Teams get very excited when they get a new look uni and helps keep the guys happy and motivated.

good point...but the unis would be an improvement. With all red we seem to disappear on the field from the upper deck.

I'm with you. But then again, I start to like whatever they wear shortly after any change due to the fact that they're OUR uniforms and they are associated with OUR team.

We're clearly in the minority, though, as there are endless threads about uniforms on this and other boards at all times.

I'm with you on this one--I absolutely love the all red uniforms. When you go back and watch some old clips from the Sage-Haywood-Hayward-J.J. Moses days, how can you even stand the white pants-red top or white top-red pants combination? I'm a huge fan of matching it up red-red and white-white. I like the current ones. Why not take what the team wears now and make that cool? You know how to do that?--Win games.

IM with the lovers of the current uniforms... red on red looks like a tux look and the players love solid color on solid color.. every player that i have talked to about it says that they love the current unis because all red goes great with black.. there for you see alot of the guys using alot of black tape and accenting them with red arm bands.. See Alvin Bowen he wears about 3 red bands on each arm along with a black pad... i guess it just adds to his more devastating look. Plus there arent many other teams out there that are red on red.. we are like a swarm, white pants soften the guys look up.. and some people believe that the all red color can be intimidating to look at.. imagine lining up across from Tuba Rubin, Jason Berryman, Tyson Smith, Jordan Carstens.... Alvin Bowen... and even the little red fire hydrant in 6'0" Brent Curvey.. like i said. I love our current Unis and so do alot of the players

I second that. For new fans, these uniforms are all we've ever known. I think going with all red distinguishes us from looking too much like USC, and while the unis are similar to the KC Chief look, the red pants are just enough to give us our own identity. I wouldn't mind a revision of the current look, but our primary color is red, and it should stay that way.

I think they could make some suttle changes to the UNI's and go back to the Gold Helmet with the red "I" like back in the 70's...use the yellow metalic flake paint on them. Go with the white strip in the middle of the red stripe down the middle of the helmet....

I think if we want to go "tradition" we should go back to those...

Or UNI's similar to Utah would be kind of cool and not a dramatic change...
