Jayhawks' point guard will miss game against Cyclones
DMR link Lawrence, Kan. — Russell Robinson, starting point guard for sixth-ranked Kansas, will miss Saturday’s 5 p.m. game against Iowa State at Allen Fieldhouse because of an injured foot.
Jayhawks coach Bill Self said Robinson suffered the injury during practice Wednesday.
The junior leads Kansas with 131 assists, including 27 while helping the Jayhawks win the past five games.
Freshman Sherron Collins, who scored 20 points in a reserve role during a 71-62 win over Kansas State on Monday, will replace Collins.
Kansas beat Iowa State 68-64 in overtime on Jan. 13 at Hilton Coliseum. Collins scored 10 points in that game.

Classic Kansas. Replace a starter with a guy that just a had a 20 point game.
Ugh.

Thats probably not a good thing, more playing time for Collins is scary. The only reason Collins doesn't start is out of respect of the upperclassmen and to keep team chemistry.

Collins said he's remain coming off the bench in order to not hurt team chemistry.

Re: Jayhawks' point guard will miss game against Cyclones
Here's something I wanted to get off my chest. The Lawrence newspaper's preview of the first ISU-KU was all about Stinson and Robinson last year. It went on and on about how much Stinson talked and how Robinson just kept his mouth shut and doesn't do that, blah, blah, blah. First, I thought, why are they writing a preview article about a player that no longer plays for ISU? Well, because it gives them an excuse to trash him, I decided.
Then I'm thinking, have I been watching the wrong guy because every time I've seen Robinson play he's jawing as much or more than anybody. So, I was happy he got T'd up along with Martin for getting in each other's faces.
Anyway, that's the end of my rant about the living in a land where Jayhawks can never ever do no wrong until they transfer and then everyone knew they were a thug anway and that's why they're gone.

I'll second that. If I read lips correctly during the Robinson/Martin exchange, Robinson let fly with a healthy serving of profanity, right in Martin's face no less. Jayhawk fans would like you to believe they have the highest standards in all of NCAA basketball concerning player/fan behavior, yet their actions don't reflect it as far as I can tell.
KU trashed Padgett when he transferred to Louisville to play for Petino. They called Micah Downs a momma's boy and a crybaby when he decided to transfer to Gonzaga. J.R. Giddens was a thug, but they defended him up until Self gave him the boot.
I hate you, Kansas Basketball.

Yeah, "RussRobb" (as they call him on the KU boards) definitely got in Martin's face pretty good the other night. The best part was the look on his face when the ref T'd him up. He gave the whole "What'd I do?" look, even though the TV camera had a perfect zoom-in on him for the exchange.

Living in Chi for the last 3 years and knowing friends of Sherron Collins (and getting to see him play in person), I was telling ISU fans last year that he is probably the missing piece of KU getting back to the final four. I dislike KU as much as anyone but Collins is a nice guy and quality kid.
Hey! It's all ball bearings nowadays. -

Yeah....losing Robinson isn't a big deal at all. Robinson has been a massive under-achiever in his Kansas career after being a 5 star recruit. Collins is every bit as good as Augustin at Texas, and would get more publicity if he started. The kid's REALLY good, reminds me of a thicker Jameer Nelson.

Collins is unbelievable and is going to be a thorn in our side for the next 3 years I believe. The bad thing is that he's not very tall so I doubt he hops to the NBA early. He reminds me of a senior-year Stinson (if there had been one) who can shoot a lot better.

I dont' think that will matter much....we're gonna have to play flawless to even keep it close

Am I remembering wrong, or did Robinson have a huge game against Iowa State his freshman year? I'm thinking he did, and the less Jayhawks the better. -
Re: Jayhawks' point guard will miss game against Cyclones
Colln's strength reminds me of Stinson, however Collins has a more complete package. His turnovers remind me of Stinson also!
