Re: Thursday game?
I'm all for it if we get on ESPN and get some national exposure. If not it's not worth it to me.

Re: Thursday game?
Agreed.
If it ups our exposure (outside the state) then I'm on board.
Otherwise, we're just playing a game on a Thursday.... -
Re: Thursday game?
I like it since it usually means regional or national coverage (not too many games being played) and it's something different. What I like about our opening game this year (just like last year) is that it opens up the Labor Day weekend for the students so more students won't miss the game (and believe me, many would choose going home over a football game, not everyone is die-hard).

Re: Thursday game?
Since I work for a college Athletic Department, my weekends are booked solid, but I still have my love for the clones...I wasn't going to be able to make any games this year, now it looks like I'm gonna get one in....

Re: Thursday game?
My understanding as of now it's not going to be televised. Sure students love it, but how about the other 40,000 who have to work. Don't get to tailgate, have to take off early if you have to drive very far. So that means vacation time. Get home late, or take another vacation day and miss Friday. I live only an hour away. Getting to the game was a zoo because everyone else was in the same boat. Everyone gets there at the same time. Traffic was like an Iowa game! That's why I hate going over there to games. I was late getting to my seat last year and had to run from the Christian School at that. I would like to hear JP's reasons for this.

Love it! Tailgating is my favorite sport!

Re: Thursday game?
Loved the Thursday night game last year. Took off at noon, tailgated until gametime and then went back to work on Friday. Good times were had by all of us.

I feel you on this......but I live right outside Minneapolis and made the trip. I decided that day at noon to take the plunge, took off at 2:30 made it, slammed a few pops, dodged some crazy christians and found my seat.(scalped) I then left the game with about 2-3 min left, little did I know what was about to happen in the game. I got back to my car very fast after hearing the crowd and those left in the parking lots cursing about the events just to hear the bad news. I listened to the rest of the game on my way out of town. I arrived home around 2:30-3:00am and had to be on the job-site by 7:30 that Friday morning, had I stayed for all the game I would have never made it that day. (Not sure I really should have made it back that night anyhow, but I did quit drinking after the first Qtr.)

I understand what you're saying, and I agree with you to an extent. However, if it was still on Saturday, I could make the argument that it isn't fair to the students that have to work weekends, or had trips planned for that weekend (me and some buds were thinking about going to a Twin or Cub game). Now, we can do both. I liked the Thursday night game last fall because I didn't have to take that saturday off of work, and I love night games because they remind me of playing in HS under the lights.

Re: Thursday game?
Had a good time tailgaiting all day last year, and took the day off on fri. But the NCC lots were dead, there was just no one there until the hour before kickoff. Rather have a nice big tailgate crowd on sat. I love the atmosphere of early fall tailgates... All the late games killed the atmosphere last year.

Re: Thursday game?
Stupid unless we get national TV exposure. As mentioned in the other thread, I was disappointed in the crowd size last year in the opener. I didn't think moving the game to Thursday did anything positive.

The game will not be on ESPN, the Big 12 does not have a contract with ESPN, so no games played in Big 12 stadiums will ever be on ESPN. Big 12 games are either on FSN, TBS, or ABC. ABC and TBS only air games on Saturdays, and I'm not too sure FSN would pick it up.
