Does this mean that Planet of the Apes is becoming a prophecy?

All work and no play makes me a dull boy.

It is television's fault.........too much violence in the media and now it is effecting the chimp population.

Adrienne Zihlman, an anthropologist at the University of California at Santa Cruz, said the work supports other evidence that female chimps are more likely than males to use tools, are more proficient at it and are crucial to passing that cultural knowledge to others.

Either the theory of evolution is a farce, or that female tool use/proficiency gene seems to have been somewhat obscured over the eons...

The gene was passed on but the tools evolved into credit cards.

Re: ISU researcher discovers tool making chimps

Chimps using tools has been known for awhile. Chimps using tools as weapons to hunt is a whole other story. Many of our own ancestors didn't know how to use tools to hunt, they just used them to cut meat... This is pretty spectacular.

Does that mean that my brother in law can finally get a job?

So now they want to take what they see today's chimps doing and make inferences that humans did things the same way? Who's to say that the chimps aren't just imitating native human hunters that they have seen using spears? Supposedly they've only seen ten different chimps use this technique... and it seems like they are all chimps in the same area...

This isn't news, I have real news: I discovered that Chimps will wear clothes and go to football games wearing black and gold in Iowa City. However these are lower functioning primates...

They also have trained them to be lawyers, though they had to devolve a little bit to fit their new role.
