Since I got my iPod almost two years ago I haven't tuned into one second of KXNO. Every morning I unplug the iPod and then listen to Mike&Mike highlights on my 25 minute drive to work. Then my 25+ minute drive home is taken up with PTI or some other podcast I have downloaded. (like One for the Thumb - Home of the Five time World Champion Pittsburgh Steelers)
Yes, I miss local Cyclone talk. But, I go to enough Gridiron functions and hang around the web enough that I get more than enough news. Being freed from Squawk talk is probably the best thing. For probably the first time in my life I couldn't tell you what the squawks record is in basketball, or name more than a handful of their players. I know next to nothing about what is going on in Iowa City and most importantly I DON'T CARE!!!
I can't speak for Marty and Miller or Cotlar, but I would just like to thank each and every one of you for listening. The share numbers that KXNO pulled down in our last ratings book, all shows, are among the best for any sports talk radio show in the United States.
Hate on, my friends, hate on....and just keep listening and starting these threads once a week ;)
Don't thank me because I'm not listening...except for about 10 minutes in the morning to Cotlar.
Of course KXNO's ratings are good. They have no competition so people are forced to listen if they want to hear sports talk. Saying KXNO's ratings are good is like saying Iowa State will win the Spring Game...
I for one is a Marty & Miller fan. Cotlar, Jon Miller, Fox Sports Radio, and Jim Rome I can do without. Marty bags on my Huskers just like he does Iowa St., but I can live with it, besides, it's not like the Omaha media bags on Nebraska.
How I miss the days of 4 sports stations in Des Moines (The Big Ticket, KXNO, KXLQ (Jock 2), and the original Jock. But hey, we've got 3 spanish stations and a butt load of bible thumping stations to choose from!
