Re: ISU vs. KU Postgame - A bit of perspective
I for one was very impressed with KU. Their defense was amazingly quick, physical and dominating. They knew who on ISU could score, and how they could score and took it all away. I agree with ISU looking like a deer in the headlights yesterday, but a lot of team have looked that way at KU this year. GMac has stated over and over that this ISU team is just not physical enough to play in the Big 12, and yesterday they really showed it. The only way to overcome this is to get stronger or just win games with outside shooting. Neither one of those is going to happen this year. More strength, more options, more experience. Face it, ISU has very little of any of these things right now. Gmac has done a prety good job of coaching, because the current team should have had several more games like yesterday this year, they are that outclassed.
Re: ISU vs. KU Postgame - A bit of perspective
I don't think that effort was the problem. They were clearly outcoached.
Re: ISU vs. KU Postgame - A bit of perspective
I just think that this isn't the same team as we saw earlier in the season. There's not any urgency to win games anymore. The losses are starting to pile up, and it's wearing down our guys, who look like they just want the season to end so they can try again next year.
Don't get me wrong, these guys have shown great effort all season. But, you have to admit that when things get really bad, it eventually gets to the point that you just want to push the reset button.
Re: ISU vs. KU Postgame - A bit of perspective
We had no business competing with KU.
On to Nebraska.. I expect us to compete for the win on teh road.

I think the fans are really ready to push reset. Gmac is still trying to coach these guys and they are still trying. I think the biggest factors in the whole situation is that:
Other teams have identified how to stop a very limited offense
The ISU players are just getting worn down. They are way undersized, very short on numbers and the Big 12 is so physical. They are like a middle weight fighting a heavy weight: once in a while they will get in a good shot, but most of the time they get backed into the corner and pounded on.

You guys look way too much into things.
We dont have a PG. Havent all year. Coach MacD has kept us in games we shouldnt have been close in otherwise.
We played a team with by far better talent on their court and got spanked. We have a HUGE hill to climb.
Re: ISU vs. KU Postgame - A bit of perspective
We've been spoiled with some great point guard play in recent years. I don't think we "don't have a point guard". We just don't have a good one right now.
I'm very encouraged though - by Corey's play as of late. And Dodie played well vs. KU. I'm seeing both act more as leaders right now and even drive to the basket. That's something we've been missing.

This can only improve Taylor's game, too. Now teams have to guard 3 players, rather than sagging off Dodie and Corey and crashing Taylor. Teams have been doing that all season to us. If you spread the defense, Taylor will be able to drive more effectively, along with the other guards.

Agreed. Other teams know we have 2 players that can create their own shot...Mike Taylor and Jiri. Wesley has shown signs of it but not on a consistant basis. Mike and Jiri are going to draw double teams until other players step up.
