I've been planning on redesigning my personal website for a while now but I haven't had a lot of spare time for some reason Anyways, let me know what you guys think so far...
Note: The colors may change a bit and a different graphic is being designed for the banner. The overall purpose of the design will be to talk about my different web design and technical projects.
not my style of Web design (or graphic art - yes, I do design Websites as well), but very slick. I like it b/c it's something I wouldn't do.
Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice? Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.
u got a forum for your personal site??? how much traffic does that get?
I have a lot of things on the site that are more for personal uses (ie document management, mail services, etc) but they only show up once logged in. The forum is kind of a hidden gateway so-to-speak. It's the door to the dark side:)
A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.
I do some web design as well...so here are a few thoughts (overall I really like the site, so these are just nitpicky):
-Having both a horizontal and vertical navbar seems a bit redundant - once you get more content, the space for the vertical one might be better used for something else. (if you keep both, can you have both links assign the same 'Itemid' in your php and highlight both the horizontal and vertical buttons - currently the buttons on each side link differently).
-If your web design and projects are going to be the focus of the site, make sure that's obvious to a first-time visitor. When I just glance at your initial page, I am unsure where to go next and what the point of the site is.
-It is awkward having to scroll up and down on your blog page to read the double-columned layout (even harder on the narrow view of your site). If you keep the double design, at least put some more padding between the columns, as they run right next to each other.
-On your links page, it would be nice to have them all listed on one page, rather than having to click on each individual category (but the categorizing is great).
-I also prefer when sites open links in new windows so I don't lose my spot in the site I'm currently on. I suppose this might turn others off.
