Jon is usually a fair guy but today he had his Hawkeye game face on. It gets so tiring hearing about this subject but a person can't excape it. This convo is sooooo 5 weeks ago and now it gets brought up again. Whether they like it or not, this series isn't going to end anytime soon and the Big 10 going to a 10 game schedule is laughable.

Plus as great as the teams in that league are, why would they jepordize all of those BCS spots. As a matter of, I think that the BCS should just go with the all Big Ten format. You saw how competitive they were last year. Here's to that Ohio State-Michigan rematch.

You continue to be one of the biggest idiots on this board. clone52 is absolutely correct. Get off your high horse. You don't get recognition for being 1-11. It seems as if you try way too hard to be the perfect fan. All you end up doing is making yourself look stupid. Sure, a win over Texas would be nice, but beating Texas while going 1-11 isn't going to lure any more recruits to ISU than if ISU beat UI. Why not beat the **** out of thos arrogant pieces of white trash to the east of us?

However, I have opened my eyes and noticed the error of my ways. At no point in this thread did I call anyone names or treat anyone with disrespect. I have an opinion, just like everyone else - and have discussed it.

This topic, a very passionate one to many, has been discussed in a respectful manner, until now.

It is really time for these e-fights to end. It's just silly. We all come to www.cyclonefanatic.com for basically the same reasons. We may not always agree on topics such as this, yet we can treat each other with some respect.

Obviously the game isn't the most important on the schedule, but it is the most hyped game. Its probably the biggest game on the schedule barring a late season game for a championship. I look at it this way, if we only win 1 game all season, I hope its the Iowa game. However, I'd be more than happy to get killed 70-3 against Iowa if it meant a Big 12 North championship.

I don't think anyone is saying the Iowa game is more important than winning the Big 12 North. But looking at a schedule with no thoughts on conference standings, is there any single game more important than the Iowa game?

It does get our team on TV. Iowa City is not too far for a road game. Our team will be worth a $90 ticket. im not sure if EIU will be. Oh, I forgot, they do not play the two toughest Big Ten teams the next two years. Guess the Clones will be their best opponent.


For sake of argument I suggest that Iowa - Iowa State is unusual. We have Mich-Mich State, Purdue-Indiana, Arizona-Arizona State, and others, all from the same conference. I do not think Mississippi, Texas has equivalent foes from different conferences. Notre Dame-Purdue does not count. Florida State/Florida/Miami is equivalent. Maybe North Carolina/Duke or Virgina/Virginia Tech. My point is that it is one of the five good instate rivalry games between two major conferences all year. Why quit now?

How about we spend two hours talking about how everyone was predicting Iowa to be in a BCS bowl and Tate winning the heisman?

How about we talk about the football teams losing record?

How about we talk about this great coach at Iowa that didn't even get a second look by the Steelers.

How about we talk about a crybaby basketball coach begging to get into the dance even though they can't beat Drake.


At times, Jon can sound like a reasonable guy but days like yesterday show what he's all about. The good thing is that I don't think he has a clue what he's talking about when it comes to this topic (ISU/Iowa game being dropped).

Jon and the rest of the Iowa fans are funny. We constantly hear how all the Iowa fans are big spenders which is a complete joke. Start losing for a few years and se how big of spenders you have. The truth is that the Hawks have a lot more fans than ISU. ISU fans will spend money when the team wins. I remember a lot of people spending money when we went to Arizona. I also don't see these "big spenders" buying ISU season tickets to get into the UI/ISU game. Instead they are going to have some Mickey Mouse game watch because they can't afford season tickets. Jon Miller and the others act like Iowa fans live in Beverly Hills and ISU fans are from the projects. 95% of the fans of both schools live in Iowa and the difference in income is very little.

I think this may explain the controversial picture/article in the DM Register about the wrestler "being on display" but I can't find anything that says newspapers have sweeps week in February. It would certainly qualify as a stunt.

I've heard of sweeps a number of times. In fact, it was featured in the movie Bruce Almighty - Bruce was obsessed with sweeps week.

Anywho...would be nice if we actually knew if that week was upon us.

I think what you posted here about sweeps deserves its own post, SlyCy. Maybe someone else would know when it is and at least everyone would know that perhaps we're all falling victim to a media rating stunt.
