'70's - '80's Ballad Rock

So today I've been on a late '70's and early '80's binge and it got me to wondering who was the greatest band of this time era. Who do you guys believes earns this distinctive honor?

All work and no play makes me a dull boy.

All I can think of when I think of good 80s music is Billy Ocean

Boston's "More Than a Feeling" defines the 70's sound as well as anything to me.

I would never categorize the Rolling Stones or Led Zeppelin as "Balad Rock". It's an insult to both bands to include them with the rest of that list.

Led Zeppelin has some ballads like the Rain Song, but they are in a whole different league than the rest of the list with the exceptions of perhaps the 'Stones and Aerosmith

I was not on God's green Earth for much of the 80's, but I really like Journey.

Who doesn't? It's one of the only bands that you can play air-piano for!

I had to give one up for the REO "suckwagon", wanted to go with Journey but I kinda get tired of hearing Randy Jackson remind us all every chance he gets that he played with them. (Unfortunately, yes that was an admission of watching that show on FOX.)

That's what I was thinking prior to opening this thread, now I guess I would label them in the "Hairband" category if these are the Ballad Rock groups. Or maybe they could be in the 80's-90's Ballad Rock poll.

And finally, yes that is a great song!
