Re: More $90 ticket reaction from the Gazette

Proof the author is an idiot:

"Ohio State-Michigan ($59 a ticket)"

I challenge him to get a $60 ticket to a Michigan-OSU game. It's never gonna happen unless you're a major donor to either school. I recall I had a mentor once who was a Michigan alum. He told me a story about how, in his freshmen year, he rounded up tickets to the game from all the "dumb freshmen girls" and scalped them before the game at around $250-$300 a pop. Paid his entire tuition for the year in that one day.

I really don't understand why Hawkeye fans can't understand that the so-called "$90 tickets" are never going to see the light of day, and to the people who do get them, $90 per ticket vs. $60 per ticket is like paying $0.99 vs. $1.29 for a 2-liter of Coke.

One thing that never seems to get mentioned is that both the "Horseshoe" and the "Big House" hold twice as many fans as Jack Trice. What would the ticket price be if only 55k could see the game, instead of 110k?

I'm still debating about buying student tix... that way there'd be at least 1 more hawk fan in JTS... the only predicament is that what do I do with the rest of the tix?

You couldn't even give those tix away last year... walking through the dorms with tix taped to peoples' doors with notes that said FREE TICKET speaks volumes...

Iowa students do that as well... It isn't a phenomenon... It happens all the time.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't ISU fans paying that same $90? It's not like Pollard is charging three times as much to Iowa fans than he does for ISU fans (which if he could find a way to do, I'd love it). Why do Iowa fans believe its their god given right to have cheap tickets handed to them?

Re: More $90 ticket reaction from the Gazette

Two things: What Jamie Pollard was trying to do was stir up interest in his football program, the same football program that stunk it up last year and could have very easily gone winless. So he goes out and hires a big gun, again we don't know what Gene is going to be like as a coach, but he comes with a great reputation. That was the first thing, get the people behind the coach, done.

Now, a big renovation plan already in the works, he makes this big announcement, ticket prices increase, and (gasp) you can't buy a single game ticket for the Hawk game. This is guaranteed to get all the Hawk fans up in arms (even though it effects very few of them), and nothing will unite Iowa State fans faster than a bunch of whiny little b!tch Hawk fans. JP is a puppet master, the dumb@ss Hawk fans (I know redundant), have helped him sell season tickets. What a bunch of idiots!!!!

I am glad that someone said what I was about to say, because that is exactly what is happening. It is time for us to push them around.

You know I have never really thought of it this way. But, if that was his original intention that plan is pure genious.
