Re: Corey Mac will be our starting PG next year

Well I for one hope we have a better point guard in the wings for next year. Corey does okay, but he has problems handling the ball when he's double teamed. He generally makes good decisions on passing the ball etc, but when pressured he sometimes makes some silly decisons.

Hey I like him and he's improved a lot in the last few games, but Stinson and Tinsley have set the bar kind of high for what a point guard can do at Iowa State.

Re: Corey Mac will be our starting PG next year

The thing I am most happy about is that we are having this discussion. A few weeks ago most people thought Corey probably wouldnt even see minutes next year. Who really knows what next year will bring, but it is exciting to have talent coming in to the program and some guys here who can play a little too.

Re: Corey Mac will be our starting PG next year

It is great to see Corey playing well of late. I thought he might be a candidate to transfer out during the offseason, but he is clearly becoming a more important part of our success and will be able to help out big time next year if he keeps it up.

Does Garrett play shooting guard at all? I wonder if we'll ever go with a three guard lineup with Garrett, Taylor and McIntosh all on the floor at the same time

dont forget about boozer!! i dont see him red shirting.. i think he will actually help out

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

I agree that he's had problems with double teams, but now that he's actually looking to score and get to the paint it'll make it a lot tougher for teams to double him. Before it seemed like all he wanted to do was take 2 dribbles toward the three point line and back out, meaning a trapping smorgasboard for opposing defenses since he wasn't going to take it into a threatening situation for them. I also think adding some offensive weapons will help him immensely next year since teams will be hesitant to leave their man to double.

“I’m just glad I have Homan as my bodyguard,” Eustachy joked. “If I ever make it real big and get to drive a limo everyday, he’ll be driving it. I thought he came off the bench like somebody was stealing his cow or something.”
