Best ROCK band of the '70s
Thought I'd start another poll concerning music of the '70s. This time I only included rock bands of the '70s, leaving out the pop or soft rock. I tried to include a variety of styles from Classic Rock to Punk.

Yeah but you have Tull on there, and no matter what, a dude playing a flute cannot be in a rock band
But I do like JT.

Was VanHalen even around in the 70s? I cannot remember anything they did before like 1982.

i think the rolling stones should not be part of this poll only because they have been an iconic group for the better half of western civilization.

But I do like JT. Very true, but they did win the very first Grammy for Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Performance, which I always thought was odd.

I must admit, I'm a little dissappointed that KISS isn't on this list. And Brianhos, if you're not allowed to be overly negative anymore, how do we know it's really you? I demand a picture of you in your tucked in sweatshirt and snowpants holding today's paper as proof! "Seven minutes to glory." -

I am finding those snowpants and wearing them along with a nascar sucks t shirt to the next CF outing. I will be the guy in the corner beaten to a pulp.

Since I bashed the EZ listening bands on the last poll (Journey, REO, etc.) everyone is allowed to bash the bands on here. (Except for the Clash. They're off limits!)

Re: Best ROCK band of the '70s
vh-1 was 1978 I believe, and for that album alone, i put them in the top 3. Their first world tour in 78 they were on tour with journey and montrose, and journey wouldn't let them have sound checks because they were so good and in retaliation v.h. would trash journey's hotel rooms. that is good enough for a top 3 listing in my book! They pulled out of the journey tour and opened for black sabbath and were blowing them off the stage every night.. (I know, can't tell I like them) Dark side of the moon was from the 70's and was in the monthly billboard top 100 albums for over 10 consecutive freakin years; so, definately think you can include them on your list.
for me,
1a. led zepplin
1b. van halen
1c. ac/dc
1d. tie between the who and pink floyd
honorable mention: Aerosmith
The Stones were already legendary by the 70's, man though they did release some great songs in the 70's though.
