Roads

How do the roads look going east on 20 and south on 35. DOT says they are completely covered, I was wandering how bad they really were.

my roommates went to the Prarie Meadows last night and said as long as you were careful, they were passable... but they didn't travel on either road you requested but it was around DM...

Re: Roads

Up here in NW Iowa the roads are still poor. Looks like they are worse in central Iowa. Were going to have to count on John Walters for the game.

Re: Roads

Just got back after going out for groceries etc. I-35 around Ankeny is a complete JOKE. The fastest I hit was 30mph, saw a couple of cars go in the ditch.

I love how the weather has been complete sh!t for every home basketball game. It is no wonder that attendance is down this year.

Re: Roads

I'm coming from Waterloo and will be driving down 35. Any report on 35 north of Ames to 20? Thanks

Re: Roads

The DOT website says I-35 north of Ames to Highway 20 is completely covered with snow...based on what south to Des Moines was last night, count on slow going, one lane, and plenty of cars in the ditch.

My husband just got home from Albert Lea, so he took 35. He said it's a BAD idea to travel - he watched dozens of cars go in the ditch, especially on that stretch. He only drove 30-35 mph the whole way home, due to ice-covered roads and blowing snow.

The Wartburg Track team hit the ditch on their way to Ames today. So I know the roads arent the best.

Re: Roads

Just drove from Ames to DSM an hour ago, Southbound was iffy probably 75% covered. Northbound looked clearer, Slow at times. Fastest I could go with 4WD was 60 and just intermittantly. I'll update when I drive back up around 2:00 for the Northbound drivers. I've got a friend over in Lincoln that has been stuck since Wednesdays game, doubting he is going to make it back for the game since 80 is still closed anybody heard anything forom that side of the state?

The roads are fine in central Iowa. Don't believe the hype and get your azz to the game.

Re: Roads

I drove back from DSM this morning, I-35 was MUCH better than last night. I was between 50-55 most of the way. Just be smart and leave yourself time and space. We did count 81 cars that didn't do that.
