Re: $99 season tickets
180 days a year? I wish. I'll let anybody that's interested to take over my class for a week. You would leave with a change of heart about what it takes to be a teacher, I promise. I make more money in Houston teaching than in Iowa and I'm still broke!

IMO there is not a more important job in the world, which makes it, although underappreciated, the most rewarding job in the world. I hope you or anyone didn't think that I was "complaining" about teacher pay, "benefits" etc. I was trying to make a jab about how I"m going to be broker than broke if I want Cyclone tix after I graduate. But alas, oh well, ty cobb, and 90% of the population who aren't in education, have no idea that the gov't is actually making education WORSE with mandates such as the "No Child Left Behind Act of 2001." Sure, they look all nice and pretty on the outside, but I'm sure a female praying mantis looks pretty to a male before she eats him too.

My parents are retired teachers and I made more five years after graduation that my parents each made that same year. I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone. -

Seriously, it's difficult to put a value on a good teacher. They deserve as much as they can get. However, I've also had a few who were over-paid at any price.
Yeah well, ya know, that's just, like uh, your opinion, man. -
Re: $99 season tickets
What is the average starting salary for a teacher these days?
With college debts at all-time highs, I'm guessing its hard for some to take the required student loan payments.

Re: $99 season tickets
In the Des Moines Public School District, starting salary for a 1st year teacher is about 30,000. In small towns though, the salary is often down by the min. of 26,000.

Re: $99 season tickets
My mom has taught 1st and 2nd grade for a little over 25 years now. This past year I went in a couple times to help her for a day, and I honestly don't know how she survives in there. It takes sooooo much effort just to get all the kids to do one thing, it's just incredible. I know I wouldn't be able to handle elementary education, and I usually have pretty good patience.

Re: $99 season tickets
Is this thread about ISU basketball and season tickets or teacher salaries?
Please ignore tycobb's attempts to stir the pot and his generally offensive behavior. I doubt it will be happening much more.

They are basically raising the NCC ante from $2500 to $5000 plus adding a "donation portion" to the season football tickets. Again, if Gene is successful there will be more Victory folks ($5K and up) that will be looking for BB tickets.
For most of us we better hope for good TV coverage. Where did you find that info? I am interested in substantially upping my donations to ISU, but I will not do it unless I can be assured I will get moved out of my non donor section I am currently in. I would love them to have a nice well layed out plan like Iowa has.

you can have your own opinions about things, but when you are posting false information on a public message board, then thats a different story.
