Re: ISU grabs another point guard for 07
I highly doubt Jiri is leaving...if the staff knew he was, and that is why they added another recruit...then why in the world would they be talking about him becoming a force for us next year if he adds 25lbs...it's pointless to speculate on this subject unless someone actually KNOWS something.

Eikmeier is an '08 recruit.

I'm glad we got a PG instead of a big because I think our current bigs and Thompson will add a lot of weight and strength in the 8 months till next season starts.

I'm not doubting your credibility at all. I know that McDermott and TJ were (are?) begging a JC point guard to walk on next year.

Boom.....transfer the karma -
Re: ISU grabs another point guard for 07
Where would McIntosh go? He's going to be a senior. I don't get why he would leave unless he's having grade trouble or something.

Re: ISU grabs another point guard for 07
Think point guard. No more than three. As #1, Cory McIntosh and and two new guys in training, Diante and Showtime. Guess we will become a three guard offense since we had problem recruiting/finding big men. So Mike and Dodie move to #2.
Third guard Brock or Lucca, Cory, and Rashon #3. Alex and Jiri as #5. Ross and Craig as #4.

Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -
Re: ISU grabs another point guard for 07
We didn't have too much of a problem finding big men...Thompson is basically an '07 recruit...we have Hubalek, C. Johnson, Brackens, Marsden, Thompson, and W. Johnson when we need him in the post...I think we have a good balance of players. Wesley can also play the three along with Clark and Staigga. McDermott has said Lucca is a body we don't have right now, strength-wise, and can defend and knock down the three consistently.

Re: ISU grabs another point guard for 07
I just say we avoid the speculation. We have a new guy who seems to have great PG skills and lets just take that, we need that, I watched Garrett's video, the kid is a 2, he has good ball skills but is a 2, we need this, I hope someone isn't leaving, but we will have incredible depth no matter what and will get through it, breathe everyone things will be fine!

Re: ISU grabs another point guard for 07
Maybe someone is switching to an academic scholarship? If a post player was leaving then signing a post player would be obvious but I really don't see any of the guards leaving so this could be a mystery. Is it confirmed that Alex Thompson has a scholarship? That is the only other possibility I can think of.

Yeah...Thompson is on scholarship next year.

Re: ISU grabs another point guard for 07
the way i see it.. its like when we were all waitin to see who the new coach was going to be in football, we wont know anything, until it happens
Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative. ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other." -
Re: ISU grabs another point guard for 07
Academic Scholarship could be a possibility...I saw that Ross made 1st team all big 12 in academics.

Re: ISU grabs another point guard for 07
I certainly hope none of the current players are leaving. Our graduation rate over the past few years has been terrible and I'm sure we will rank very near the bottom of the NCAA when the next set of rates are published.
This will eventually start to cost us scholarships (lower our max less than 13) when the new NCAA satisfactory progress rules kick in.
On a second note there has been questions here as to whether an existing player can convert to an academic scholarship to free up another basketball scholarship. I'm sure the NCAA doesn't allow this. If a player signs a national letter of intent and stays a member of the team, his scholarship must count against the 13 max. The only way to free up a scholarship is for the player to leave.
