Re: ISU grabs another point guard for 07
I hope Dodie doesn't leave, I think he has a pretty good upside. But with Corey playing better he hasn't been getting as minutes as earlier ...

Re: ISU grabs another point guard for 07
Has anyone in the cyclone program talked about this new recruit yet? Someone needs to ask McDermott during a press conference why we have 5 recruits for next year. Are they waiting till after the tournament to talk about this?

his turnover/assist ratio...well we won't even go there
and when teams tighten up the D on him, what does he do? (Kansas State, Texas Tech...) Yeah excellent point, if he isn't one of ISU's top 50 players of all time then we don't want him. I guess by that logic we'd only have a player in every 2 classes that you'd even feel was worthy of keeping around. Sure his stat lines are not good at times, but at least he's getting shots and being aggressive. I think we'd all agree that many times this year he's been the only one that would do anything. I thought it was a great sign that he didn't even shoot in the first half on Saturday...show's great improvement in maturity. Next year he'll be great with other pieces surrounding him and we'll be even happier to have him (even if he doesn't make the top 50 of all time here!).

How tall is Brister? I have seen him listed as 6'2'' and 6'4'' several times in articles.

So I heard something about that on Mac's call-in show that he said Alex Thompson will not be on scholarship for next season. Did anyone listen to the show that can confirm this? Guessing this is where the scholarship came from to sign our latest recruit. So did I have a hunch on this or what? Well probably more luck but when I orginally said this people were quick to rule it out.

Is this just because Thompson doesn't need the scholly, or is he only going to be good enough to be a walk-on?
I'm a big believer that he will be a huge part of our success next year, I hope this doesn't indicate that's wrong.

Re: ISU grabs another point guard for 07
I can't see why AT would leave unless he's going to a small school where he won't have to sit out yet another season. And I can't imagine why he won't play some good minutes next year either. When we let him transfer I thought Mac said something how he'd have to earn a scholarship. If he's voluntarily playing on a non-scholarship basis so we could sign someone else I would have even more respect for him being a team player that way.
Who knows the circumstances really, I hope AT plays well and earns the right to a scholarship for his senior year.

Re: ISU grabs another point guard for 07
It may just be that when he transferred, he wasn't guaranteed a scholorship, and maybe he just didn't earn it this year. After all, almost none of us really have an idea of how much he has improved or worked this season. I'm hoping Thompson pans out, and can give us some good minutes next season, but I'm not holding my breath.

Re: ISU grabs another point guard for 07
Pretty sure the deal was that he if we needed someone else this season, he would lose his scholarship. Pretty sure he'll get it back for his senior year.

I'm pretty sure AT will be here next year. See article on Cyclones.com from last month... http://www.cyclones.com/ViewArticle....&ATCLID=789366

Alex and his family are fully aware of what is happening, and Alex knew this was a possibility when he decided to transfer. His parents live in Ames, it's not like they are scraping by in the ghetto. I think this is a great move on McD's side.

He is not going anywhere. This doesn't mean he is stinking in practice. He actually is doing quite well. Alex agreeing to this should help ISU fans like him sooner rather than later

Re: ISU grabs another point guard for 07
You guys dont seem to get it. AT wasn't guaranteed a scholly for next year, but he will have one. Someone is leaving, or someone won't make it in next year. It was a very easy and convienient way for Coach to explain the signing, but just wait.....
