Rag at it AGAIN
I don't usually have any problem with the Register, but when there is an article about Iowa's Perry winning the Big 10 champ in his weight class and how Iowa got third, but no mention of the Iowa State Big 12 Championship, something is back asswards.

Re: Rag at it AGAIN
ISU championship was noted in Sundays paper on page 7. Next to Iowa's wrestling report. Actually had larger coverage of the Big Ten prelims...go figure.

Re: Rag at it AGAIN
Yeah, the whole RAG staff graduated from EIU.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -
Re: Rag at it AGAIN
I wonder how Mark "Blood-time" Perry managed to win.....
I guess we can expect to be slighted by the Register no matter what happens.

Re: Rag at it AGAIN
Even the on-line edition mentions Iowa's third place finish with eight wrestlers qualifying for nationals. The on-line edition says absolutely nothing about ISU winning the Big XII and qualifying all ten wrestlers for nationals. Then in the actual register, when they do mention Iowa State on the SEVENTH PAGE they throw in that we won by the smallest of margins (not disputing the fact), but they don't mention that Iowa placed third by the smallest of margins ahead of Penn State.
Plus, I have not recieved my DMS Register for about two weeks. I did receive it the day after I complained, but I have not received it since. I can understand not getting a paper when the weather was bad, but I stoped receiving it long before the snow storm. They can expect a pleasent phone call tomorrow morning if it isn't here. End RANT!!!

Re: Rag at it AGAIN
Do like me when it comes to the Rag. I called up to cancel, they begged me to stay. At one point the guy asked what it would take for me to keep my subscription. I said, "Make it free". And he said, "Done.". I haven't paid a cent to the Rag in over 2 years and my paper is on the step every morning at 5:00am.
I do make sure to tip the paperboy/person. Since I once was one I don't want me "arrangement" to impact their making money.

Re: Rag at it AGAIN
During Kum'n'Go's "Free Register with fuel" promotion, I would refuse to take a free register. If the person behind the counter rang up a free DSM "RED STAR", I would refuse to leave until he backed it off the register.
I wouldn't read that "rag" if they paid me to. It is obvious that their incompetence, political bias and lack of business plan has caused them to give away papers just to make it look like they are succeeding. (For the advertisers.) Pretty soon they are going to be a glorified version of the "Penny Saver".

Re: Rag at it AGAIN
I thought it was pretty lame that ISU winning the Big 12 Wresting Tournamnet was not at least on the front page of the Sports Section. That was a pretty big deal. Instead we got one artlicle on page 7, with one picture. Give me a break, if EUI would have won the Big 10, I would bet it would have made the front page of the Sunday edition.

Re: Rag at it AGAIN
Omaha and KC paper's both run a big 12 roundup once a week.....those in itself is better than a week's worth of the RAG crap we have to read.

Re: Rag at it AGAIN
The Rag used to be a welll respected paper decades ago. Guess new ownership took it downhill.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -
Re: Rag at it AGAIN
the Rag sucks... but it is the only decent local newspaper so we have to read it through red classes to see any clone coverage at all
