Just as an FYI to everyone who enjoys Sin City...Allegiant Air is doing 2 for 1 airfare when you book by March 21. They fly direct from Des Moines to Vegas.
I'm looking at going in April or May...you can get flight and 3 nights hotel (Thursday-Sunday) for around $230 for a lower end hotel, about $300 for a mid-hotel, and about $400 for a very nice hotel. If you fly during the week, it's even cheaper.
Great City at a great price.
Crazy you brought this up. I just booked my fiance and mine's honeymoon to Vegas. 4 nights at Excalibur and NON-stop round trip from DM for 600 bucks. I was amazed.

I was just out there over the last weekend of Jan and had an absolute blast, although I was ready to leave by the last day of our trip. (4days) The next time I go, and yes there will be another, I will stay near the middle of the strip to save on cab fare and sore legs from walking so much. (We stayed at the Stratosphere.) I like the strat and recommend visiting the tower, but man was it away from it all. (I did like the little 12K donation they made to me for hitting a straight flush on Let It Ride, woo hoo.) If anyone has been to the Wynn or has heard much about it please let me know, it looked great.

The Wynn is absolutely amazing. I haven't stayed there but the lobby, shops, restaurants, casino, exterior, etc are awesome. They also have one of the best poker room around. Of course, the prices are absolutely amazing as well.
Staying at the strat IS a haul from the middle of the strip...my last couple trips we have stayed on the south end (NY NY and MGM) and I really like it down there vs. staying on the north end.
