That's a good job for him. He would have made a good AD if winning did not matter.

They must have figured, "Eh, what's the worst he's going to do to our fine educational system here in Missouri? Show the kids how to rot their teeth out, talk like mongoloids, and make whoopie with their cousins? Heck, it beats what we've got!"

“I’m just glad I have Homan as my bodyguard,” Eustachy joked. “If I ever make it real big and get to drive a limo everyday, he’ll be driving it. I thought he came off the bench like somebody was stealing his cow or something.”

"I'm essentially working in institutional advancement, raising money for Missouri," said Van De Velde

I always heard that was one of his biggest problems here at ISU, what the way he treated the donors that gave money to ISU. Just what I had heard.

F'em all,... but 6,... you need pallbearers

Re: Van de Velde with new job

Interesting. He says he's going to be in charge of raising money yet if remember right he was not too good at that at ISU because he has the tendancy to come off cold and alienate fans.

Best of luck, without him finally leaving we never could have hired the coaches we have now and had the optimism that JP has brought us. JP is a much better fit here than Bruce ever could have been.

You think it's any coincidence that mizzou got throttled last night by Baylor?
His touch is already being felt.

How would BVD been a good AD if winning didn't matter? Did we forget how poorly he handled the Larry E. situation?

I don't disagree with the end result, yet I don't know if a person could've handled that any worse - making ISU look like a dog-n-pony show. Larry started it of course yet BVD did nothing to help the situation.

I can only wonder how Pollard or most any other AD would've handled that one.

I do wish BVD luck, I just never cared from the guy (too much of a "Slick Willy"). The Larry debacle only made that worse.

IOWA STATE ATHLETICS
Ex-AD Van De Velde in running for UNO job

OMAHA — Former Iowa State athletics director Bruce Van De Velde is among five finalists for the AD job at Nebraska-Omaha, the Omaha World Herald reported in Thursday’s edition.
The candidates will have two-day on-campus interviews after March 18.
Van De Velde, who resigned in 2005 after five years at Iowa State, has been working as an athletics consultant.

Great for Van de Velde.
Good Luck with your new position.

But now we have Pollard and it seems that the Athletic Department is operating at a whole new level.

Welcome to a new era of Cyclone Athletics. May it be a golden one...

Re: Van de Velde with new job

The Omaha sportszone people were hoping Bruce took the job, but found out the same day that he had pulled his name. Apparently he went on the air later and told them he had a better job than UNO AD. UNO may end up joining the Gateway Congference which now has 9 members and signed up 2 of the Dakota teams. They have one opening. UNO may make the big jump to next tier. Maybe ISU will play UNO in football in ten years, a team that may be in UNI's conference. Could happen.

EIU is the other Okoboji University for serious students and home of Captain Kirk who pilots the Enterprise on its Trek through the Universe for finding his next great job. Captain, beware of your Superbowl.

Sorry for my first post, it was bad sarcasm. I really feel BVD was the darkest part of ISU. And he set us back 10 to 15 years.

I'll try to do better to show my true feelings
