I was thinking the same thing last night. Where oh where did he go?

Criticized Fennelly on a night he made a milestone no less too!

I hope we have B.F. for many, many years.

Big 12 WBB isn't getting much love this year. OU is the highest ranked team at #11. Getting a 4 seed would be quite something. I think ISU has done enough to guarantee a 6-seed. Playing tough against OU could get a 5-seed.

I agree, although I think a 5 seed would require beating OU, not just keeping it close.

I think BF has done a heck of a job this year and through out his whole career. But I always want him to have pressure on him to win! He is getting paid to win and there should always be some pressure on a coach to win. I'm not saying i want him fired or anything like that...

Re: Fennelly's teams

It's hard to imagine ISU WBB without Coach Fennelly. He has to be one of the sharpest coaches around. I used to hate that zone defense, but always thought he figured the longer he could keep the other team handling the ball without shooting, the better chance for a turnover. (the turnover thing works against us, lord knows) This year's team seems to thrive on defense. Going up against the Women Mountains Paris is going to be a tall order, but I'm interested in seeing how he defends her/them.
I do have one question. How many games has he won at ISU and how does that total compare to the men's all time record, which has to be Johnny?
Go get 'em Twister Sisters!!. Play some D and hit some 3's and we'll take our chances. And get your dancing shoes on.

The thing that I like about Fennelly's team is that they don't make excuses. Regardless of the situations they are in, they are finding ways to win right now. They picked an awesome time of the year to get hot! It could turn of to be a fun ride!

Now go kick some OU arse!

Fennelly is 258-117. The other 5 coaches in the previous 22 years are 237-344 or something like that. Johnny was 218-200 making him both the winningest and the losingest coach in ISU history, a dubious honor that at one time he also held at Michigan, although I don't know if that's still true.

OK I love Bill, and I think that he has earned the right to leave on his own accord, but if Brenda Freese, who was an assistant for Bill were to come in, I don't think that would set the program back.

Again, I want Bill to leave when he is ready, but there are other coaches, who could come in and do allright.

Now I will say that Bill is the reason that we could even think about hiring a good coach to replace him.

Re: Fennelly's teams

If you have a youth and want to teach them fundamentally sound and fun basketball let them watch the Cyclones womensteam. It is amazing to me how consistent year to year his teams are on fundamentals, passing angels, ball movement, basic man/woman to man/woman defense. Very fun to watch. You don't ever see that kind of consistency in the mens game even with the Dukes of the world.

Go Cyclones!

Bill Fennelly is a teriffic recruiter, coach, and representative of our university. There are very few others on his level and we're fortunate to have him in cardinal and gold.

Re: Fennelly's teams

I love BF. Whenever I see him, all I can think of is the movie "Willow." Anyway, I hope he sticks around for a while, and leaves on his own terms, and not fired. The fact that he even questioned his own ability to continue coaching (kinda like Mac did) shows a lot of character on his part. IMO, JP has been a catalyst for our programs. If the team doesn't perform up to snuff, the head coach, at least realizes that maybe he/she won't be the best fit at ISU. That's something that hasn't occurred here in a while. We've been too accepting of mediocrity, and now that the coaches would rather "step down" than get fired, says a lot about us as fans. They want to win for US to be happy, and if they don't, they're starting to see that they won't stay for long. I love that.

All work and no play makes me a dull boy.

Re: Fennelly's teams

Not only is he a gread coach, but he is prob the most underated coach in the country, no one ever talks about iowa state, and no one ever mentions BF..

subject change

I dont mind the 6 seed, just as long as they put us in Min.

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."
