Just came across THIS on espn.com and was curious why the time the Big XII teams get for spring practice varies so much. Some teams started practice as early as March 5 and have their spring game the same day as ISU (April 14). Meanwhile, ISU doesn't start until March 20. Isn't there supposed to be equal days for every team? (Or do you think there are probably days off for the teams practicing longer?)
Pretty sure Chad is right. I have been a part of Spring practices in the past and we were just allowed a certain number of "contact days"
I think Iowa even started this past week for a couple practices and then has Spring break off before starting up again.
Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating.
Some schools are having a couple of practices before Spring Break. ISU is starting paractice after Spring Break. I think I read in the CR Gazette that Iowa had a couple of practices this week...then they are going to resume after Spring Break.
"Would it be a benifit to start before or after Spring Break and why?"
Honestley, I don't know, I would think starting it after and not having the break woiuld be better. Teams usually have a few t-shirts and shorts practices at the begining. So, they could be getting those out of the way and then starting right off in Pads when pratice resumes. Plus you are 2-practices closer to being done....so it could be a mental/morale boost. Spring Practice is not fun for players. Lots of hitting...lots of yelling...lots of running, and it is 6 months until the next game.
Spring practices start March 20th. They'll practice on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday (sometimes) and Friday from 7-9pm. Saturday practices will be mid-day.
I have yet to get confirmation as to if and how many practices will be open to the public.
