With tonight's announcement of Conradt's retirement...

Bill Fennelly is now the Big 12 WBB's longest-serving coach. With 12 years at ISU, he's got one year over Coale (OU) and Patterson (KSU).

12 years already, why not 12 more??

Chizik: "One thing that I’d encourage our fans…I want them to be the loudest stadium in the Big 12. I don’t care…I want Jack Trice stadium to be the loudest in the Big 12 and I think that creates homefield advantage.... I want to stress to everyone…I want this place to be juiced up. They bought 36,000 season tickets so there is a passion there…don’t hide it…let it out. I want there to be a passion in the stadium."

I hope this doesn't end up like the last time we had a Big 12 sport's longest-tenured coach! Fennelly is a tremendous, tremendous coach, no doubt about it!

McC had 12 years and accomplished a lot less than Bill.

EIU is the other Okoboji University for serious students and home of Captain Kirk who pilots the Enterprise on its Trek through the Universe for finding his next great job. Captain, beware of your Superbowl.

Very funny.

Bill has done one of his best coaching jobs this year. Regardless of what happens in the tournament, he showed he can still get it done. It looks like he has recruited well, and the future is bright.

Re: With tonight's announcement of Conradt's retirement...

I wouldn't compare this to McC being the longest tenured...honestly, say ISU women's only have 5 wins next year...firing fennelly would be a stupid move...WE NEED TO KEEP BILL AROUND FOR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE. He's a coach I would love to see spend the rest of his coaching career at ISU. McC was a diff. scenario and things got really stagnant in the football program and obvs we all know the rest about the changes that were made. Things are just far from that with Bill and I think it would take way more than one down year for us to even CONSIDER letting him get away. The future is unbelievably bright for our girls, I don't think its as bright as it is for Wrestling, but probably brighter at the moment than MBB or FB. (not saying things are headed in the right direction there, bcuz with Chizik and McD they obvs are.)

Wouldn't be that big of a step down. Live in Austin, easier to achieve expectations, solid 6 figure income. Sign me up.

Give the man a lifetime contract please! It would take A LOT of losing for the fans to turn on Bill at ISU.

Styling gel is most definitely allowed, and by the looks of things, probably mandatory in Austin. Have you never seen a picture of our governor???

I don't know...moving from EIU to UT seems like a step up to me
