DSM area jobs?

Anyone know of any job openings around the Des Moines area? My fiance is in childcare, but is wanting to get out of that. She is making $11.50 an hour, and is looking for something around there. Preferably, nothing less.

If you know of anything, please let me know. She has her degree from ISU, so she is like family.

Thanks a lot

Any other skills other than childcare?

Re: DSM area jobs?

So many directions this thing could take! lol

I'd suggest that she first update her resume, have someone look at it, make changes. Set it aside for a few days and look at it again. IMO, a good resume is constantly being updated and enhanced.

Next, create something on Career Builder or Monster - these sites do work if utilized correctly.

A great way to get a job quickly and trying them out is a staffing agency. Olsten Staffing Services is a good one, yet there are a number of them in DSM. Many times they'll place temporary employees with a company and that company will hire them.

Trust me, it does happen and can help reap big rewards.

Good luck to her in her search!

She was a fashion design major in college, and has experience managing in retail. but doesn't really want to get into retail either

i need a job 2!! haha..
ya i wont get one..

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

There are a lot of jobs out there so you never know! Especially in certain areas.

There are so many engineering jobs available right now I would be licking my chops if I was graduating soon. It was the complete opposite when I graduated in '04.

I am at parent teacher conferences right now, so I have a job, unless my principal is on this board. My last conference just left. Does anyone know any construction companies looking, I need a summer job, badly!

Thanks

Agreed, where are these jobs hiding? Ames and DM don't hit the career fair circuit very hard. I'd like to stay here, but all my interviews have been out of the area.

Engineering jobs are hot right now. My brother (a EE from ISU) had 5 job offers in Iowa alone when he was job hunting.

Of course he has experience and is really good at what he does, so that might have more to do with it than anything. :)

On a related note, does anybody know of a summer job where you get paid decent and don't really have to do any work? My best qualities are procrastinating, bs-ing, and re-wording what you say and spitting it back out to make you think I feel you player (think Wayne Morgan presser). Seriously though, I was thinking about umping but I hate doing that and would like to find something where I don't have a set schedule and can do the work when I want to. I wanted my brother to go in on a window washing crew, but he said no because he didn't want to have to climb the Legacy Tower (I tried to explain that they would probably provide the scaffolding but he didn't understand ). Any laid back job ideas would be appreciated. (Shuts off lights and locks doors in anticipation of a darts rampage in retaliation for my light-hearted Morgan jab)

“I’m just glad I have Homan as my bodyguard,” Eustachy joked. “If I ever make it real big and get to drive a limo everyday, he’ll be driving it. I thought he came off the bench like somebody was stealing his cow or something.”
