Tony Yelk

Ex-ISU kicker Yelk to NFL's Jaguars

March 15, 2007

Former Iowa State kicker Tony Yelk signed with the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars Wednesday as an unrestricted free agent.

Yelk, plagued by leg injuries during his Cyclones career, spent part of last season with the Atlanta Falcons.

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

GOOOOO TONY. That boy sure could ride an exercise bike!

He's gonna have to take off those sweat pants in the NFL.

Some People see things as they are and say why? I dream things that never were and say why not? When I took this job I said why not Iowa State? Why not winning? Why not bowl games? Why not sell outs? Why not national respect? Why not us? Why not here? Why not the cyclone family?

Always thought he could be a kickoff guy/punter at the next level. He's a horrible placekicker despite the strong leg.

When they lose it'll be his fault. I'm sure it was still his fault everytime we lost this year.
