My father has a DLP projector he got on ebay for $700 and it looks amazing. It has a surprisingly good picture for the size. The picture isn't quite as good as HD but its definitely a better picture than a regular tv. With the projector and his amazing audio setup it really is like a movie theatre without all of the annoyances.

I used to be an all-Sony guy, but have you seen the Samsungs in the stores? The picture is absolutely perfect! Plus I bought a 23-in Samsung flatscreen (couldn't find a Sony that size, and at the time my newly-married wife wanted to keep her small entertainment center). I'm now debating...

Nice TV Ned....
We got a new one recently too, we added a new room on our house and got this TV
It is a 60" Sony SXRD micro projection TV. Basketball the last 2 days has been great on this thing in HD. Wife picked out the tv stand, I was originally not all for it, but once it came in, I think it ended up looking really nice.

Just out of curiousity, does everyone on this site spend money on their TV's, and say "forget it" about furniture? I've seen two huge TV's, and zero couches/sofas. Your houses look bare!!

For some, the TV comes first and then the furniture. We just got our new sectional & ottoman that goes nicely with the TV over a month after we had the TV.
And the color of the couch?
Methinks it will look great with some gold throw pillows. :)

I concur, I think Samsung make soem of the nicest screen especially the LCDs. At the time I bought my panasonic 52", Samsung was about $1000 more, so I opted for the panasonic. Been very happy since

We ordered it in Jan from Redekers in boone, but it has to be shipped from Italy, so we are still waiting on it.

The bad thing about projectors is when the bulb goes out, it's like buying a new TV everytime they do. Those things are expensive!

Those things are expensive! $200 buld being replaced every few years is not bad. I mean, you will probably only keep the tv what 4-6 years before the tech is outdated and you need to get a new one? If you add the cost of 3 bulds in to a micoprojector, it is still $1000 cheaper than plasma or lcd for a 25% larger screen.

I just had to order a new lamp for my projector at my job, and it was $450 dollars, and that was the cheapest price we could find.

As Brian noted, that's not the case. You can't get a big screen TV for anywhere close to $200.
And, a few of the TV manufacturers are including a secondary bulb with their new sets.

It's funny that so many people are needing to add rooms for these tv's.
I'm in the same boat. I want a 46" sony bravia XBR, but have no place in the home to put it. To solve that problem, we're finishing the basement (complete with ISU Themed billiard room) so I have a place for that beautiful machine.
My favorite part, the home theater will have a secret bookcase door to a storage room! (I think it's a guy thing because I haven't found a woman yet that thinks that's a big deal... even my wife.)
