Looking Ahead
It was a great first first year for Cael and his staff. A list of this years accomplishments.
Midlands Champions for the first time in 25 years.
3rd place at National Duels.
4-0 in Big 12 duel meets
Big 12 Champions for the first time in 25 years.
2 Big 12 individual Champions
10 National qualifiers
4 All-Americans
1 NCAA individual Champion
NCAA Runner-up
To say the least, its been a good year. Congratulations to Travis and Trent Paulsen, Kurt Backes and Grant Turner on great careers. Thank you for all of your hard work. I want to look ahead to next year though with this as the possible line up:
125 - Fanthrope
133 - Gallick
141 - Mueller
149 - TJ Sebolt
157 - Sanderson
165 - John Reader
174 - Bertolino
184 - Varner
197 - Joe Curran
Hwt - Zabriske
This is what I expect to start the season. The only thing that might change is if Zabriske were to work his butt off and lose 30 pounds to drop down to 197 to make room for Wren. That seems doubtful though. This team will take a step back next season but not a big one. The freshman from this year are really going to have to step up and become leaders because losing those seniors is gonna hurt. But we are so young in two years I don't know how we could lose.
Minnesota is the early favorite to win the title next year. Iowa will be much improved with the VT boys finally wrestling but none of those guys will have wrestled a real match in 3 years. Okie State was rebuilding this year and only lose Hendricks. Mizzou will lose Ben askren. As of right now I would say a top 5 finish next year is a very good goal with top 3 being overachieving.
Sorry if this is long, but I really enjoyed watching this team all year. Any thoughts?

Re: Looking Ahead
What the hell are you doing up so late CyforPresident aka Mardorf. But yes, the future is bright indeed. Experience will equal success and in a few years, nobody will have more.

Re: Looking Ahead
Can anyone comment on Sebolt's, Reader's, Bertolino's, and Curran's accomplishments as preps?
Edit: This stuff is on cyclones.com.

Re: Looking Ahead
Won't Sebolt have trouble cracking the lineup for awhile? Can he beat out Mueller, anybody with any knowledge about this?
If Sebolt were to wrestle at 149 that would mean Sanderson's up to 157 and I doubt that because he's not even strong enough for 149 yet.
