Now that we've had two rounds of tourney, who do you think is the best conference in the country?
I still maintain my stance on the Pac-10 being the best.

Hmmm...I don't think I would put the Pac 10 at #1. I would say the top 3 conferences are ACC, Big 12, and then the Pac 10. Although I hate the ACC with a passion, they are seemingly always tops. I would put the Big 12 second, although we got screwed with getting our teams in the tourny. We had 3 teams who all could have been 2 seeds or better IMO.

I agree the ACC is usually the best conference, but this year it is definitely down besides UNC. Pac 10 has three teams that could get to the final four, thats why I picked it.

I picked the Big 12, what can I say I'm biased.
But Honestly, Living on the West Coast I here a lot about the Pac-10. I think they are the most balanced conference in the country this season. I think the Big 12 has a few really good teams this year, but overall it isn't as good as the Pac 10. I'd take Kansas or A & M over all three teams left from the Pac 10.

Living in West, I'd have to say the Pac 10. This is the deepest the conference has ever been. It used to be Arizona and Stanford, and no one else. (Then UCLA stepped up when Stanford stepped down.) But this year there were no easy wins top to bottom. Unfortunately the West coast teams are on so late on the East coast I think they often get over-looked.

Very good point. Never thought about that. I know at one point they had 6 ranked teams!

The PAC 10 is as deep as it ever has been, and that's good with Arizona's backslide.
Anytime you ask someone about what the best conference is, most times their answer is based on regional biases. Ask someone from New York, and they will say the Big East, ask somebody from Mississippi, and they will say the SEC, etc.
The thing is that it's cyclical. The PAC 10 jumped up this year, while the Big 10 and Big 12 were down. Three years from now it may be the opposite.
However, I think that year in and year out, the SEC is the best conference in football/basketball. You can point out how pathetic they are academically, but they always have a contender for a national championship in the main sports.

It will be interesting to see if the Pac 10 can maintain this level. I don't know if WSU and Oregon will build on this success or not. And I'm not sure of Floyd's status at USC. I wonder if he'll stick around or leave for a "basketball school."

USC is going to be a "basketball school" if Floyd stays. with the recruits coming in, he should be in the Elite 8 or Final 4 next year.

I would say Big 12. What other league has (had) three legitimate shots to win it all? (TX, AM, KU). Only other conference would be Pac10 with UCLA Oregon and USC.

I would say the Mountain West...mainly because god himself now coaches there.

SEC...deepest and most athletic league. The only problem with basketball in the SEC is that no one really cares about it because they are so focused on football year round.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

I don't think he's leaving anytime soon. LA has a lot to offer him and the city loves him. Also, he's mentioned a lot that he wants to make the yearly match up between UCLA and USC as exciting and important as the Duke vs. UNC matchup. He wants to make USC "The Basketball School" in LA. A hard feat to accomplish, but so far he's exceeded expectations.
