The ref screwed Kurt by not awarding them.

Technically, that shows that Kurt had him pinned and it wasn't called. The only way that wouldn't be a pin is if it was a roll.

I believe Backes didn't have control, so therefore no back points were awarded.

It's hard to tell with a still photo because there is so much you don't get to see - was it a roll, did time expire as the photo was taken, etc. It looks pretty clear to me Backes has him pinned and is in control at that instant of the photo. There were a couple close no-calls where I thought Backes should have been awarded points, but I suppose those are the breaks.

Casber seemed to think Backes got jobbed, and of course Cael can't talk about officials. It would have been cool to add Kurt to the list of individual champs, but the way the HWT match turned out we probably would have still lost the team title.

I know what you mean, I thought there were a couple of instances in that match where Backes should have been awarded a reversal or back points but apparently the ref didn't think so.

The reason this doesn't bother me is because both refs on the mat agreed on it. There wasn't just one as usual, there were two to help make calls like that.

It doesn't bother me either. Its all part of how wrestling works. It was good to see Backes make it that far in the tourney even though he lost in OT.

True, and he was also seeded 4 I believe; he wrestled above his seed, which is what we needed!

Atleast we do not have to worry about the ref again. Fred retired right after that match.

Backes was the 9th seed actually. He sort of got shafted seed wise, so he went out and proved everyone wrong.

Thanks for the correction. Was Travis Paulson the 4 seed then? I thought our Seniors were all ranked (minus Turner).

Travis was fourth, Trent was number one, Backes was 9th. Turner was "nadda"

That's not the bald black guy is it? That guy has reffed everything from high school to national wrestling! He's one of the best refs out there!
