Does anyone else love Bill Raferty (SP) calling basketball games. Ever since he broke out the "Send it home Jerome" when Jerome Lane Destroyed the backboard, I have lived listening to him announce. He is not overbearing (Vitale). He does not say dumb azz things (Billy Packer).

By the way I think Billy Packer is an idiot and try's to make himself the story.

Who was doing the color in the OSU-TN game last night? Same guy? Different?

I don't like feeling like I'm being growled at or the guy is suffering from constipation and is showing #2 who's boss while doing the game.

I agree completely. And I detest Packer. I read in ESPN's magazine this week that he's called every important NCAA tourney basketball game since 1975 because he's worked every Final 4, and he always gets the primo game in the regional finals. I don't watch much Final 4 anymore simply because of his arrogance.

Meanwhile Dick Enberg was saying the wrong names, wrong times! He made several boo-boos last night but he is still better than Packer and Nantz.

Dick Enberg is such a treat to listen to. The voice is easy on the ears and he does a great job calling the game.

I love it when he goes "onions!" We got to hear "early onions!" twice last night actually.

Not a big fan of him...he acts like he's half crazy, which I suppose is a little entertaining. At one point I broke into laughter as he said something like "and the bump, to keep him erect". What the heck??? I think Enberg is terrible because he's lacking general rules knowledge and can't seem to keep up with anything. A guy will go driving into the lane and the ref comes flying out with a charge call and it takes old man Enberg about 2 minutes to figure out happened. I like Enberg a lot more when he does NFL.

Did anyone else notice that they called Acie Law IV by the wrong name. THey called him Acie Earl like 4 times. Acie freakin Earl.

you gotta love his excitement, it doesnt sound canned like Vitale. "Onions" and "_____ with a KISS!!" are classic. He makes a good game great.

Enberg's problem is he's gotten old. In his day, he was excellent.

I really enjoy Raft. Opening segment every game "Team X opens in MAN-TO-MAN"!

Is that what he says?? I could always have sworn he says Team X opens, (incoherrant choking noises as he tries to down a shot of JD without being noticed)...

Yeah, he just speeds it up. The thing I like about Raft is that he is obviously having fun calling a game without it being forced ala Dickie V or Billy Packer. Also, it is evident that Packer and Vitale love the East Coast teams while Raft, Enberg and others do not have such an obvious bias.
