Check out this story on Tim Floyd "recruiting" O.J. Mayo. It's pretty wild. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/03/21/sp...all/21usc.html
Oh, and check out the of him getting tossed from his last high school game. This cracks me up. Tim's going to have his hands full next year.

Could a top recruit make it any easier for a coach?

- keep. That's the great thing about college and Tim making a run this year. Once the kid is in school and at practice Floyd can pull out all of the "we went to the Sweet 16 without your a**, and we'll be fine without you. My way or the highway!" caoch speak. It will then become painfully obvious to Mayo who is coaching the team.

Check this link out: =
Mayo makes an semi-uncontested layup then never crosses the half court on "defense". How is Floyd going to control this guy? Is he going to buy in or is Floyd going to "put up with it" for a year just because it is OJ Mayo. I think the latter..... This guy looks like he embodies everything bad about college basketball.

That whole missed free throw sequence looked very weird to me. Why did no one try to get a rebound? If it was just the front end of two shots, why did Mayo not get called for a technical or the officials stop the play at all? | Chizik: "One thing that I’d encourage our fans… I want them to be the loudest stadium in the Big 12. I don’t care… I want Jack Trice stadium to be the loudest in the Big 12 and I think that creates homefield advantage.... I want to stress to everyone…I want this place to be juiced up. They bought 36,000 season tickets so there is a passion there…don’t hide it… let it out. I want there to be a passion in the stadium."

What the hell? Is it a slam dunk contest or a game?

oh man, this guy thinks he's in charge - and by that article, that might be true.
Tim better tighten the reigns once he's on campus.

I read through that article. Saw the quote about "O.J. doesn't give out his cell, he'll call you".
Just who does this kid think he is...a member of the mafia? Is he holding someone ransom?
I'd love to have a great player like that yet never want that attitude anywhere near our Cyclone program.

You're not supposed to make contact with an official ever. Basketball players flop all of the time to try to make the contact look more severe than it is. This ref had the rare opportunity to give a taste of their own medicine.

This situation shouldn't be any different for Floyd. He's already seen all of this with Jerry and the Bulls.
And here I thought USC had to pay for Mayo.

that whole article sounded shady as all get out... the guy that contacts floyd is an event coordinator in LA? my red flag is waving right now dont want to be negative but im 97% sure that even if O.J. does come to USC and they win a title it will be taken away bcause of illegal activity with boosters or other money related NCAA violations

I guess he's going to LA cuz thats the only city big enough for his ego. He seems WAY too cocky. I dont care how good you are, but treating a coach like your personal b***h and trash talking to the greatest baller ever.....this kid sounds like an artest type in the making.
