No need to apologize. This link appears about every month or so. You could set your watch off of it.

Also, "whatever happen to X player" appears about every month or so. Typical players that can sub for X are:

Never gets old, buddy. It's like watching Animal House or Longest Yard, they're just classic and you never tire of it. Thanks for the link

While it has been posted before and yes it may be a bit overrated, it still brings a smile to my face every time I watch it :)

People forget that Dick Vitale and Johnny Orr are pretty good friends that go way back.

I was actually wondering about that from the way that interview went. Thanks for clarifying that for me.

All work and no play makes me a dull boy.

Ummmmmm.............No, in fact they didn't ever particularly care for each other. They do go way back, though, Vitale was at Detroit when Johnny was at Michigan. One year when they played, Vitale wore a maize and blue. Detroit won, and Vitale started running all over with a minute left in the game. Johnny was pissed about it, and never forgave him.

The thing you don't see on that clip, is that when they came back from commercial they gave Vitale time to respond (after he had time to think one up). He took credit for costing Michigan, and Johnny, and national championship in 1977.

I think it was Grayer's junior year, Johnny said "We're ranked in everybody's top 25 except Vitale's, and he's an ******* anyway." at the preseason media day. Johnny was also mad at Vitale for drafting, Phil Hubbard when he was the coach for the Pistons. Hubbard was coming off a severe knee injury, and Vitale used the "you could get hurt again," line to get him to go pro. Hubbard played 12 years in the NBA on essentially one leg, so he was a stud.

In fact, I think that the only people that I ever heard Johnny talk about more, and more negatively, was Woody Mayfield, and Stanley Reynolds (two Big 8 officials who made Johnny's life a lot harder than it needed to be).

Re: Orr Tells Vitale Off - Youtube

that is why you never see vitale talk about iowa state, and that is why he never goes to our games, him and Orr do not get along at all..

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

Thanks for the detailed explanation - as I too understood Dickey V. and Johnny won't be having lunch anytime in the future.

u r joking right? god i hope so...

it's prolly part of the reason Vitale never mentions ISU, that and the fact he has a man-crush on the entire ACC...so we have to count on guys like Fran Frachilla to make good comments about our program.

Exactly...thanks for setting the youngsters on this thread straight! Vitale couldn't coach his way out of a paperbag and Orr was a great coach. I personally do not think this is overrated at all!!

There is a reason that Vitale has never done a game in Hilton. Even when Hilton Magic was in full swing, and fans were begging for him to come, he never did. He has done several games in Iowa City though.
