Personally I love watching competitive basketball with some good story lines and great in-game coaching. As much as we'd like to make Iowa our beeotch, it wouldn't suck to have state of Iowa hoops good all the way around. Can't we just have both? It's more fun beating good teams.
Yeah well, ya know, that's just, like uh, your opinion, man. -

As you stated so well, what's more fun...beating a crappy Iowa team or a very good one? (See Also: Football from '98 vs. Football from '02)
I like beating good teams - it adds to our credibility. 'Cept, it didn't work out so well for us in the end back in '02.

Re: Wow...Welcome to Fantasy Land Keeler!
Keeler seems to like to kick ISU when they are down to breed more media conflict for ratings or something. I try to skip the Keeler pieces. Maybe he is bandwagon Iowa. I think he is from out of state.
Pearl and others will probably show "interest" via rumors to help get a fatter contract extensions. Why start over w/ another program & disgruntled fans.
Altman's name always comes up, but as in the ISU coaching search, he is content w/ staying in the Omaha area due to family, new Qwest arena, decent fan base for Creighton.

Re: Wow...Welcome to Fantasy Land Keeler!
Strange that Keelor thinks the EIU fan base makes up for shortcomings in athletic talent.
First of all, they don't have anywhere near the environment or fan participation that we do. They don't know when to cheer; they merely react.
Secondly, their basketball fans have run the likes of Tom Davis, George Raveling, Steve Alford, and maybe even Lute Olson (Olson is arguable because he was not asked to leave, but he did not care for EIU and left on his own). They are impatient and fickled. They are far worse than average college basketball fans.
So, how can the fan base be considered a positive? Don't tell me its because of numbers, because I would rather work for a smaller group that treated me right as opposed to a large group of morons.

Pearl may be good, but the final game they played reminded me a lot of the old Iowa teams under Tom Davis. They'd make great runs and get big leads, but would lose the leads as quick as they got them. I'm not sure if Iowa fans want to bring that back?
Who know who they'll end up with, but anybody will probably be better from a pure public relations standpoint.
Pearl is nbot a ship jumper if you look at how long his past coaching stays were. I thought I saw Tennessee do fairly well in the NCAA. Hmmmm. Keeeler been smokin'? Dan Altman would be more realistic. Even Rick Majerus and his ailing Mom.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

Re: Wow...Welcome to Fantasy Land Keeler!
Let's see, why would Pearl want to come back to the fanbase that ran off his former boss. I'm sure he has no bad memories from his time there.
He probably has more and better athletes on his current team than Iowa ever did when he was there. So other than the fact he used to be at Iowa what possible current factor would pull him back here?
