Update on "other" guard transferring?

Does anyone have an update on this "other" guard who is transferring. I know Jeremy said that just the paperwork has to be filled out but does anyone know anything else.

We dont'? I sure as hell would take Smith!! He is a great player and is going to the NBA, just cause he is a Hawk doesn't mean I wouldn't love to have a player of his quality on our team. Now i know that he isn't going to transfer but I would hope McD would accept him!

Stinson has a kid, Wil has a kid and Smith has a kid. They need to go pro to pay child support, since they couldn't keep their zippers shut. Smith will be gone after another year (assuming he plays next year).

I predict, Smith will make a good player in Europe, not the NBA.

A couple of quick (maybe dumb) questions:

1) I heard that the transfer will be for academic purposes....positive academics or negative? Is the person "transferring" because ISU is too good academics or it is not good enough academically?

2) Did Brock Jacobson redshirt last year?

A lot of people talk about Dodie Dunson transferring, what about Brock? I think that Dunson may feel that he has the potential to be a Big XII caliber player. I think that after this year for BJacobson (like 6 three point attempts and 3 blocked three point attempts :)) may feel that he may not be Big XII material and may instead use his brains to make a living instead of playing basketball. I'm not trying to take away from "credible" sources or claim that I have any information, but I could just see this happening more than Dodie transferring.

And good comment about the title of this thread. I thought some new development came about!

Jacobson didn't redshirt because he played and redshirted the year before. With all this stuff about the unexpected recruit of Brister one would think that a scholarship player would be leaving. I believe that an academic problem would be because they can't hack it here, not otherwise. Dunson may have been academically sound at his prep school, but you have to realize that there had to be a reason that he had to go to a prep school to begin with. With all these firsthand accounts of dropping classes, etc. I think it is Dunson unfortunately.

About the only player I can remember saying he wanted to transfer up academically was Farnold Degand last year. I can see why some of these guys can't hack it at ISU, not easy to juggle bball and a full plate of classes.

Yeah but most of these guys are majoring in Women's Studies and the like :)

Thanks for the info Max....for some reason I don't remember Brock on the team last season.....but I could see how he might not have gotten too much PT over Stinson and Blalock....

EDIT: I don't mean to keep questioning you but are you sure about last year with Brock?

Yes, Jacobson was on the team w/ Stinson and Blalock as I remember hearing talk of him as a "practice hero" and how he may contribute with everyone leaving. That was his redshirt year, this year he played, so he will be a soph next year.
