Congrats to JP for listening to Cyclone fans and limiting the amount of Student tickets to only one End of the upperdeck in Hilton, making the other available to the public!
Hopefully with some renewed interest in the basketball program the students can HOPEFULLY fill up the new seating on a nightly basis.
Amen to that. Even though I think the students will show up better next year because it should be a more exciting season, I say make them earn it.
I bet the students pout over this much-needed change.
I don't think it will cause too much complaining by students as they still get the lower level seating on both sides. My parents bought tickets online for the texas tech game this year, and their seats were in the front of the upper deck behind the basket this year... so I'm confused as it seems as though students didn't have that spot last year anyway.
Anyway... the restructuring doesn't bother me at all, and I can see it is nice for some of the upper level non-student fans to get a little closer view (kinda, I personally think the sides are better than behind the basket). However, I still think that changing it to general admission seating won't allow for more people in to the game because we're not filling up non-student tickets either. It will just allow people to be shuffled around more and maybe appear more full with people being spread over all of the seats... but more gaps between people seating... or more of the back rows of the upper deck empty. The students just made it more obvious how many people didn't show up because they all crowd to the lowest level possible (due to the open seating) and all empty seats get grouped together in the upper levels.
They whine about everything. I love students excitement, but it takes the money of donors like us to make the program a success.Quote:

yeah, im fine with it considering last year.. however, it should be considered that it was a down year, and attendance was spotty in lots of sections, not just the students. I hope that in the future, if students fill the section again consistently, the allottment will be resized back to what it was
And it takes the students to have a program in the first place. I'm not using this change as an example... but I bet when you were a student you would have whined about certain things too.Quote:

I like the changes, and I am a student. I usually tried to get to the game when the doors opened up to make sure that I got close to the floor. So it doesn't really bother me. I just wish that those who go to almost all the games and not just games like Iowa and Kansas get first choice over seats. Last year and this year I was stuck in the upper deck just because I had a crazy high number. I guess I am not that lucky to get a number like 7 :sad9cd:
Doubt it... once these tickets go to donors, it will be hard to pry them away unless the donors got a better seat, and there are just not many of those to go around.Quote:

It shouldn't take winning to at least fill up just those seats. We went 15-15 my freshman year when the had the rotational lower level seating and the entire north side of the upper deck and most games that upper deck was filled to the top and that 15-15 team wasn't a whole lot better than this year's team other than we had Fizer starting to come into his own as a sophomore. Even the 12-18 season after Tinsley and company was gone was not that bad for student attendance.
I also think the last time we've had true Hilton Magic at the most games in the season was back in the Eustachy days. We had some dabbles with it during the Morgan era and it creeped out a few times this year but back in the Floyd and Eustachy days following Orr nearly every Big 12 game you had a rocking loud Hilton nearly all the time and even when the teams were not the greatest it still came out more than it has the past 4 seasons.
