Rank Big 12 Coaches...

Now that we are one year in to the McD erra let's see where everyone ranks the current staff in terms of coaching and in terms of recruiting compared to the rest of the conference. I know it is difficult to decide on recruiting because only one of the current staff's classes have actually played and those were recruits late in the signing period. But based on how you think this staff has done so far in recruiting compared to the rest. I would have to say right now that McD is top five in both coaching and recruiting but I wouldn't know where to rank the rest of the conference's coaches so I will let someone else start.

Of this year's new coaches, I'd say only Huggins has done better. He inherited better players, though, so I'd take that with a grain of salt.

That's if I were to base it on last year though. I think Capel and Drew are better coaches than they showed, and I feel I have Anderson too high, but he did a decent job last year. I can't really get a good read on McDermott either, but I think we dropped games we still shouldn't have dropped.

I give props to Rick barnes for getting guys like Augistine and Durant!

I don't know how you can put Knight and Anderson ahead of McDermott.

Coaching:

1. Gillispie-Might be the hottest coach in the country.
2. Knight-The General, come on now.
3. Huggins-Say what you want, Huggy gets results.
4. Barnes-Year after year Texas is right there.
5. McDermott-Biased, but I love the guy and his attitude.
6. Capel-I like this guy, he will succeed.
7. Sutton-Too angry, but he's not bad.
8. Self-Disgraceful with all that talent.
9. Mike Anderson-(he could surprise though)
10. Doc Sadler-Too early
11. Scott Drew- good enough recruiter, but still bottomfeeder.

Recruiting: Way too early to tell with so many newbies.

Almost perfect. The only one I disagree with is Anderson on the coaching side of life...proven winner at UAB and I think Mizzou will be dancing next year when they don't start the Big 12 as poorly as they did this year.

I agree about Anderson. He's definitely got the nod over Sutton who is still very unproven.

I will say, I never liked McDermott at UNI, so maybe I'm biased. :D

I was right there with you. Especially with the friction between GMac and Wayne. Being the homer I was, couldn't really get past that. I was optimistic upon GMac's hiring, I'll admit, my number one choice was the guy out of Milwaukee. But our progress and the pre & postgame interviews have won me over. We've got a good one!

Next year is the year we get a real read on McDermott.

So can WM get the Colorado job? The longer he does not work, the worse we look at having him as a coach.

It's too hard to put them in exact order, so I will go with groups of three:

Top 3: Knight, Huggins, Barnes

Second 3: Self, Gillespie, McDermott

Third 3: Sutton, Anderson, Drew

Bottom: Sadler and Capel

Figuring the Big 12 for 5 NCAA tournament teams each year, means McDermott will need to be at least #5 on the list.
Texas and Kansas make the tournament every year, Huggins probably will with the recruiting he can do.
That leaves McDermott, Knight, Gillespie, Anderson, Capel, Sutton and others fighting for 2 spots.
