Massive heart attack at Carver Suckeye Arena?

A buddy of mine is CONVINCED that they are going to announce Majerus today at 3pm.

Apparently they are reporting that he had been swimming almost 2 miles a day and that Barta will require a full physical before hired.

Are you sure he wasn't sitting poolside and some environmentalist thought that he had beached himself so they pushed him back into the water?

That's mean.

I did read somewhere that he had to quit swimming in a certain area because the Pequod and Captain Ahab were seen in the area. Can't be too careful....

Rumors are a free quadruple-bypass surgery and liposuction are going to be thrown into his contract as a signing bonus

Man, this would disappoint me greatly. I really like Majerus, and if you've ever read his book, "My Life on a Paper Napkin" you wouldn't be able to help but respect him as a coach. Unfortunately, this would diminish that respect a tad I'm wondering which hotel he would choose as part of his deal with Iowa if he actually took the job. You have to appreciate a guy that makes a million a year and CHOOSES to live out of a hotel because he doesn't want to cook or clean!

“I’m just glad I have Homan as my bodyguard,” Eustachy joked. “If I ever make it real big and get to drive a limo everyday, he’ll be driving it. I thought he came off the bench like somebody was stealing his cow or something.”

They have a greaat hospital system in Iowa City and retirement care for his Mom and the road trips in the Big Ten are not that far. It adds up.

They are getting a lot for their money.

EIU is the other Okoboji University for serious students and home of Captain Kirk who pilots the Enterprise on its Trek through the Universe for finding his next great job. Captain, beware of your Superbowl.

Wouldn't Majerus, simply by mathematics alone, be the worst coach in the nation, pound for pound?

Man, I really hope they dont hire Majerus. I really like him as a person and it would be hard to hate on the EIU as much.

Re: Massive heart attack at Carver Suckeye Arena?

Rick Majerus seems like a really good guy and a very good coach, but I don't like him as an analyst and an announcer. If any of you have heard him call a Hawkeye game, you'd understand. He makes Tyler Smith sound like he could take Jordan one on one in his prime.

With that said, if Majerus' health allows him to be there for a decent amount of time, I don't think it would be a bad hire. He showed that he was a good coach while in Utah, and he obviously respects the University of Iowa a great deal. It wouldn't surprise me in the least.

I actually brought up the idea of Majerus to a Hawkeye friend of mine right after Alford left. I was saying it somewhat sarcastically just because of how he verbally made love to Iowa and Smith while he broadcasted their games. My friend didn't like the idea of Majerus, but I'm sure he would lighten up tot he idea if it became a reality.

I'm sure there's a decent hotel out there that he could live in.

I'm going to abstain from attacking his personal health and admit that I thought he was okay at Utah back when they beat us.
