I agree. This is anything but a long term solution. They probably couldn't hire a better coach to turn it around in terms of coaching and recruiting. Check out his Utah record below. Scary. However where are they going to be left in a few years, if he even makes it that long. By next February he'll be a 60 year old coach with heart problems and diabetes. Being a big time D-I coach is a grueling job. I think it's a coin flip whether he'd even be sitting on the bench come the 08-09 season unless he's little more than a figure head.
