They said he could be announced by tomorrow.
This is weird and I can't say I like it. I love Rick Majerus and even if he's only there for 5-6, he gives them some instant credibility.

Sounds like the rumor is getting some credibility. I hope the fanbase whips themselves into a frenzy, then Barta introduces someone else. Kinda a reverse-Chizik situation.

I like that situation, but I think an even better situation will be Hawkeye fans calling for his head after they don't make the NCAA's next year.
| Chizik: "One thing that I’d encourage our fans… I want them to be the loudest stadium in the Big 12. I don’t care… I want Jack Trice stadium to be the loudest in the Big 12 and I think that creates homefield advantage.... I want to stress to everyone…I want this place to be juiced up. They bought 36,000 season tickets so there is a passion there…don’t hide it… let it out. I want there to be a passion in the stadium."

I think it would be an absolutely fantastic hire and I'd really have to give kudos to Barta if they pull it off. Sounds like part of the deal would be that an old former player will be on his staff and be given the reigns to take over when Majerus decides to hang it up. BJ Armstrong anybody? Hansen? Barta will have absolutely hit this out of the park if it's true.

Does anyone recall a year or two ago when Majerus was calling a Kentucky on ESPN, and Ashley Judd was in the stands... and Rick made some comment about what he'll be thinking about back in the hotel room after the game? Lewis Black made a reference to it on the Daily Show, it was absolutely hilarious.
ahh wait.... I found it.
Rick Majerus, formerly the Utah head coach and currently ESPN's college basketball version of John Kruk, had this to say near the end of broadcasting a particularly bad game on ESPN, give or take a word: ''Well, there's not much to look forward to from here on out, so I'm trying to find Ashley Judd in the crowd. It beats the adult videos at the hotel.''

He looks like he's about to take a Hawkeye in this picture. | JOIN THE NATIONAL CYCLONE CLUB! “If we truly want to do this, this is the time to step up. Iowa State University has 175,000 living alumni. If one-of-every-10 living alumni joined the National Cyclone Club at the minimum level of $100, we could finance $30 million worth of construction." Well, he managed to get Utah on 3 years probation before he left -- and lost a scholarship (assistants fired, etc) -so I guess that will be fine for them! :)

The waitress said, "We have stuffed mushrooms, veal-stuffed shells, white pizza, pasta, steamed mussels...." "Just keep it coming," Rick Majerus replied. "Would you like some veal parmesan?" "Yeah, we'll take five of those." The waitress walked away. "Does she know I'm not kidding?" Majerus said. "I hope she knows I'm not kidding."

He'll be a good hire for them. Nice guy(at least it seems that way on t.v.), so will be a good change from what they had.
His name should sit well with recruits. It will still be a tough road for them short term. He also has some tough competition in that conference.

I think if this happens, he will be a good recruiter, because he is so well known. But the question will be can he still coach?
He could end up being like Wayne Morgan, great recruiter, and not a good coach.
